Bwana I think that first it is probably an understatement to say that this year the BOD have likely been far too busy running/growing the business to be thinking about an ii roadshow which requires quite a lot of time and preparation. Also they don’t need to do a placing as company is so cash rich. Not much point pushing the stock at a group of potential investors who on the whole want a decent stake in the companies they buy into. I am sure that should they identify an acquisition target that requires funds they will go through this process.

And just to clarify....as I understand it, PCR result may show some virus as it is so incredibly sensitive, but results are subject to expert analysis so a minimum level would have to be there for covid to be diagnosed, this is why the ‘false positive’ argument against PCR, because it is so sensitive, is daft. It isn’t simply a matter of identifying virus in a test result, there has to be a certain level present to qualify as positive.

Dave I’m no medical expert but taking my dad’s care home as an example, when covid was diagnosed there, they were in lockdown conditions until the whole home, including staff, had 2 negative PCR tests in a row. So I’m general I would say no...also even with long covid I don’t believe those sufferers test positive even though there is a theory that they are retaining dead virus or some reservoir of virus in, eg the gut.

It hasn’t been publicised as far as I know, but I hear from an nhs source that the Nightingale hospitals, or London at least, are to be brought into use - not as covid hospitals but as non-covid hospitals (the normal hospitals seem now to be almost entirely covid hospitals). To do this they are obviously going to have a very robust testing process in place for patients and staff, I would hope more reliable than LFTs, given the incredibly high level of nosocomial transmission that has been happening to date. How do we think they might achieve this? Phase 2 incoming?

It would honestly be fantastic if Avacta comes up with an LFT that is comparable to PCR. But it hasn’t has it. What do you have to be gained by trying to deramp here? It’s not as if it affects the Avacta SP either way!

What a stupid argument - 200,000 people going to Glastonbury (and they don’t all arrive at the same time) ..I’m going to compare this to 100,000 people flying out of Heathrow each day, who mostly now need fit to fly tests before they do it. The numbers of passengers aren’t back to normal yet it’s true, but neither are there massive queues of people at the airport waiting to get tested?

Im feeling affronted on Mandy’s behalf too...apart from anything else I think she is IR but not PR? Two very different roles, as IR person she will be more focused on ensuring regulatory stuff is all in order and batting away queries without giving away any psi. She would be guided by nomads and external financial PR consultants. Traditional PR ie publicising and selling is entirely separate.

Also winced at Anthony Dyer being ‘out of his depth’ ..I would think anyone would struggle to ‘just’ fulfil the FD role at a company growing as fast as NCYT, without actively seeking out and negotiating M&A at the same time. Poor man must have been on his knees!

Earth...I fear we are heading for the same horrific situation that LA is currently in, people being treated and literally dying in hospital corridors. If lockdown is what is necessary to avoid such scenes then of course it is needed.

I don’t think such analysis is available (or has been undertaken in the way you specify). I would say though, that I find the argument that some people are making about the low number of people dying without any underlying health condition offensive, as if they were living on borrowed time or are somehow of less value. ‘Underlying health conditions’ covers a raft of issues, many of which would not correlate with shortened life expectancy eg someone with well managed diabetes type1 or asthma, someone very fit and healthy with hereditary high cholesterol/blood pressure.

Shaun - someone might correct my maths/interpretation but I did a rough calculation of the likely bonus before Christmas based on the phantom share scheme info in annual report and I came out with approx £11m for GM, spread over 3 payments/years, first of which was in November. So say roughly £3.5m (which would presumably have been taxable) and he reinvested £500k. Some may see this as making it less significant but I don’t, I’m sure he would prefer to hang on to that cash if he thought the shares to be already fully valued. I also took the consultant’s investment as a big signal. The other director’s bonus entitlement was a fraction of GM’s, I didn’t work it through.

I only realised this morning that alongside the regular testing in schools using LFT’s, should a pupil be in a bubble with someone with a positive test, they can avoid isolating as they would have had to previously, if they then take a daily LFT that stays negative. Given that most false negatives from LFT’s apparently occur early on in the infection and it is likely that this is when someone is most infectious this seems absolutely insane as a method of minimising transmission?
