Dont get to excited about their holding in Saga as their still providing 'shorters' with their shares.

Unlikely to see much interest in Saga SP without some news, even more bad news. Cant think this week will be any different than last weeks 'wipe out'. Forever the optimist but I'm sticking with my 40p 'stop' on the SP. If you want a comparison in Saga profitable sector then look at Thomas Cook. Another travel company badly run and 'loaded' with debt

Anybody any idea why we have today's 'bounce' in the SP??

A buy out is really the only 'save' for investors but really who would buy Saga in the present climate in the.UK for travel or insurance. Guess anyone interested will sit back and watch the SP slide below 50p.
Nice piece in the Telegraph and nice to read the CEO worked in submarines. Obviously he is very aware of 'being underwater' as is the SP.

As others have said. The goodwill still showing is impossible to maintain in future trading updates even if the business model stabilises, this is unlikely, so it will be written down still further. In this scenerio there really is little, if any, true value in the company. Free cash flow will also be impacted severely by the new business plan leaving only debt repayment as the core use of income/outgoing.

We continue on the SP slide today and its difficult to see it stopping as investors, big or small, see little upside to Saga at present, and certainly under the present management. At some stage the major shareholders, like SLA, have got to demand someones 'head on a stick' for the present problems at Saga.

Be nice if the CEO and other management at Saga shows their faith in the company and purchased Saga shares at the present lowly price. At least this would suggest to the markets that they had some confidence in Saga going forward. This sadly is very unlikely given they know full well that Saga is surviving only at the behest of lenders and bondholders.
A word of caution on Saga debt rating. At present Moodys have maintained Saga rating. If this should be downgraded, very likely within the next twelve months, then Saga debt ratio payments would increase dramatically. Hey presto they would be unable to properly service their debt. This would result in lenders and bondholders taking over.
All theory of course but happens everyday. Examples. Debenhams. Carrilion. Interserve. Likely INDV

Nice to see SP recovering. Lets hope it continues and clearly the 'shorts' are either gone or their holding tight until the recovery has ended

Is anybody holding INDV other than HH. Seems he's now disappeared. Pity I enjoyed our chats. Maybe he's gone on a Saga cruise. Hope boat stays afloat better than the SP. My 40p 'stop' now looking likely.

HeresHopin. Obviously watch to much TV and to many comedies. Simple fact is your upset about losing money on Saga, and today your losing more, so you vent your anger at those who express views that you cannot accept. Sad really but never we all have to learn the hard way when losing money. Its the risk you run when buying shares but I would suggest you quit whilst you still have money left.

As for 'blocking'. Why would I do that.I'm happy to read all 'posts', even yours but really grow a pair and stop being childish.

Hereshopin seems a good name title for you. Clearly you live in hope that your mistakes, in this case Saga, will 'pay off' in the end. Maybe your right but only time will tell.

My view remains that 40p is a 'stop' on the SP fall but who knows given the 'shorts' may still be working against us.
Not sure I see Saga now as a good investment. Having held their shares for the divi there seems little attraction now other than to buy on the dips and sell on the highs. Problem is the dips have not as yet stoppef. Saw support at 60p but thats gone but time and patience will tell.

Nice response to my post. Not sure of your language but your obviously in denial on the position Saga now finds itself due, in the main, to poor management. You can delude yourself as much as you wish but as it stands the only people making money at Saga are the Lenders and Bondholders. Plus of course the overpaid management.
My post was not meant to upset anyone just to point out the bare facts. I'm hopeful Saga will improve but this looks unlikely on present trend and new debt, etc, may breach and lending covenants in place.
All theory of course but dont get offensive just because someone points out a few facts of life when it comes to holding 'tanked' shares.

If anybody here believes shareholders have 'rights' in a company look at the 'wipeout' of Debenhams shareholders today. Saga is basically the same scenerio and the CEO says he has the support of major shareholders, eg. Lenders and bondholders. If the business of Saga doe's not improve, lets say in the next 12 months, which is highly unlikely, then we (shareholders) are looking at a 'total loss'.

Not looking good on the support for the buy side yesterday. Have to figure a retest of 60p if no improvement today. Maybe a few 'shorts' still around after the recent uptick.

Looking at the late volume buys yesterday seemed solid support around the 60p level. Maybe some closing on the 'short sellors' but lets see what today brings. Still on a 'stop' low of 40p in the coming weeks but if today picks up on the buy volume maybe time to raise this.

As it stands the best thing about Saga is the travel business. The way the SP is going investors need the 'lifeboats' to bail out pity the CEO et al don't also abandon ship.

Very generous of UBS at 65p. The way its going the SP will be close to my 'stop' of 40p sooner rather than later. Sadly without some positive news thinks will not change.

As you say these 'experts' know little more than us but like most 'experts' their comments can affect the SP. As far as Saga CEO the sooner he decides to get his 'pay off' is likely the SP will rise.

Hope the present uptick continues. Fundamentals still suck but the JPM 'note' gave the SP a lift and likely the 'shorts' had made enough money so 'closed' their positions.

There is a piece written by Fool.co.uk on Saga and CEO. Think the writer is Rodney Hargreaves and he pulls no punches on the poor performance of Saga CEO and the need for him to be replaced. Downside was he also said Saga SP was unlikely to recover just keep dropping. Still figure a 'stop' at 40p is likely to be broken in the coming weeks. Little reason to buy at present levels.

There has to be a reason for the lowly SP. Not sure were going to get any further update or guidance. Last time they did this pre-trade update the SP tanked and has continued down since. Put a new stop at 28p hope its not breached but no love for FCRM at present. My guess is free cash flow is under pressure with new investment so hope it pays off. All theory of course.
