Some contributors on this board are clearly CWU apologists. They're solely concerned with brining BT to its knees and shafting shareholders; many of whom actually work/have worked for the company.The CWU is sadly out of touch in the modern world and a £1500 pay rise for the young blood will be welcomed with three cheers by them. Philip Jansen is a modern day hero. The share price has not languished under his leadership. Quite the opposite. And the fibre roll out is becoming increasingly intense. All unions, not just the pitiful CWU, have become anachronisms. My advice to CWU members here is to tear up your membership cards and take your partners out for a drink with the money you save. They deserve a treat. Stop filling the CWU coffers with dosh they don't deserve while they feed their fat bellies at your expense. Looking forward to great results come 14 May.

The latest announcement about BT splitting its activities makes absolute sense. EE for the plebs and BT for the rest. That way the group can concentrate on its core activities and sell off the network and its maintenance (i.e. Openreach). This would be a win-win for everyone - customers, shareholders , pension fund, government, Drahi and competitors. A single, all-digital network for the entire UK, run from 30 mega exchanges.

Still trying to prove he's intelligent, with all his rubbish about BT staff strike action and no strike action. Someone should tell that patronising old socialist to keep his trap shut. And, like all socialist, he's got no sense of humour. If they get in next shout, BT will be doomed with a windfall tax. Mark my words Red Pete, along with the rest of the sullen, ignorant and overpaid BT workforce. You'll all be redundant soon, like those equally unpleasant supermarket cashiers who don't even bother to open the bag you've just paid 15p for. LOL
