Don't be daft Coronation. Fat, bald and greedy Openreach engineers would never contemplate giving up their overtime. It's where they earn even bigger bucks to make up for the pay they lose on strike days.

Amers, workers don't create wealth when they're on strike, you fool. They lose pay and look increasingly stupid in the modern world. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Truroman, how you have the temerity to compare your wages (or yourself) with the board of directors of any plc, BT included, is insane. We are all equal as human beings. But workers do not have the intellect to do the jobs BoDs do. That's why you, as publicity-seeking CWU member, are stuck down there in Cornwall, doing what you do; probably drinking scrumpy most days, until you become even more senseless than in your sleeping hours. And don't forget, the company directors you appear to loathe pay a lot more tax than you. In fact, most of them probably pay more tax than you earn, you silly little man. Moreover, you don't see company directors going on strike when the going gets tough. They have something today's workers will never have - loyalty to the companies and shareholders who pay their wages. You are living in the past, old chap. This is 2022. Unions have had their day in the sun; far too many of them. Ponder on that and stop talking out of your backside. And, while you're about it, do something about that massive chip on your shoulder.

There's none so blind as those who don't want to see Smash! Can you not see that if everyone gets the pay rise they demand to make up for the energy price rises/increases in the cost of living, then the entire country and everyone in it will be in an even worse position going forward (as will their children and their children's children). The government has already borrowed billions on Covid. And now billions more. Where do you think this money is coming from? It's coming from us, the taxpayers. That's individuals like you and me and businesses of all sizes. You can't borrow without paying back. If you do, you go bankrupt. That's what you and your union buddies seem to want. At a time when the entire country should be pulling together, unions like the CWU are bent on destroying what is an already fragile economy. Bunch of fools, stuck in the Sixties and Seventies. You need to grow up Smash, not me.

Hey, Smash, you dumbo. Fewer faults now anyway, because of fibre rollout. I am reliably informed that fewer than 10,000 CWU members within Openreach followed the latest call to strike action (check with your FoC - Father of the Chapel). And of course that doesn't include EE BT team members, mostly at the lower end of the pay scale, who refused to strike and are therefore benefiting from the £1,500 or 8% salary increase that BT has been paying them since April. So who are these strikers? The so-called skilled engineers who want to maintain their differential. This is the socialist view of levelling up. It's called 'I'm alright Jack'. Bunch of fat, bald, beer-swilling individuals if you ask me. They will get their comeuppance soon enough, when the Conservative government introduces new laws to prevent their selfish, greedy and grasping actions. And when the fibre rollout is over, they will be over - the CWU within the BT Group included. So make hay while the sun shines, brothers :)

Typo, you know very well that I meant CWU - Communication Workers Union. Fact you queried that leads me even more to think you are one of them - a Labour-leaning twerp :)

Can understand your disappointment Scad. I'm disappointed, too. However, coming so closely on the heels of my post about a potential joint bid from DT and Altice, please forgive me for saying that your post appears a bit suspect. Could it be that you are a CWO interloper, attempting to make us all feel a little more depressed? Methinks you are. Only my opinion, of course.

As I understand the current legislation, DT and Altice would each be allowed to hold up to 25% of BT shares without any further government investigation. Which is what makes a joint bid from them make sense. They've probably already got that 50% in the bag already.

Only thing that is too late Heavy is you! BT is on the rise now and the CWU will soon be history within the BT Group. Expect a joint bid from Altice and DT before the end of September. Know this will give you indigestion Heavy, but you've only got yourself to blame with your antiquated socialist views.

The fool was repeating an old union post from a couple of years’ back. Should have gone to Specsavers.

Don't pour cold water on your funniest post yet Fleccy! However, would say that the government needs to take the shackles off BT (i.e. Ofcom) and encourage the company to flourish, instead of holding it back at every turn. Still reckon a bid is coming soon (mostlikely combined, from Altice and DT). We'll have to see.
