Scenario 1
ABB signed a deal for the S Series because, as AB said in his video, high power low footprint is THE FUTURE (not the here and now, the future!), and AFC have successfully demonstrated the S Series prototype(s) to ABB behind closed doors.
ABB have planned ahead, as they know a lot of clients want or need the higher power charging, but also off-grid to save on the possible £10m substation costs. Thus the S Series needs to be fast-tracked to satisfy the huge demand ABB are seeing from their clients.
ABB and AFC also have very near term demand for the lower power L Series system that ABB just integrated with their EV chargers and battery storage packs. ABB are now getting details out to customers about the fully integrated L Series to see how many are still interested or want to wait for an S Series.
Scenario 2
ABB signed a deal for the S Series because, as AB said in his video, high power low footprint is THE FUTURE (not the here and now, the future), and AFC have successfully demonstrated the S Series prototype(s) to ABB behind closed doors.
ABB have planned ahead, as they know a lot of clients want or need the higher power charging, but also off-grid to save on the possible £10m substation costs. Thus the S Series needs to be fast-tracked to satisfy the huge demand ABB are seeing from their clients.
ABB also have very near term demand for the lower power L Series system that ABB just integrated with their EV chargers and battery storage packs, but this is not high enough for ABB to go ahead with a fully integrated product. In this scenario, ABB and AFC could provide a non-integrated solution to clients that want/need a system of the spec that can be provided, much like the system currently in use by Extreme E, with separate EV Chargers and separate battery storage. This solves the issue for clients that do not need something with the S Series power and size, of which there should be many, as the S Series wasn't even in the game until this week, so all those clients lined up for the L Series and can still get it, even if not an integrated solution.
Scenario 3
ABB and AFC have agreed that ABB will only use the S Series
This leaves the L Series with AFC to sell it to any AFC clients (and possibly ABB clients if ABB are willing to let AFC have the one's that are happy to take an L Series for now) who can then organise their own EV Chargers from ABB, ROLEC or ENEL-X (the one's integrated for Extreme E)
Either way, the L Series will continue for off-grid power to replace Diesel Gensets, a $25Bn annual market. With billions (trillions?) of dollars worth in place that will need to be swapped out, that annual market will go up very quickly, as companies battle to get emissions down. Also the doubling of Diesel costs in the UK from April will massively increase the potential for AFC to replace Diesel Gensets there very near term.
AB is 'juggling transactions', transactions are sales, the stuff that causes big share price rises
