Openreach has signed up to the COP26 Transport Declaration, committing to transition to 100% zero emission cars and vans by 2030.

The full declaration states that " As business fleet owners and operators, or shared mobility platforms, we will work towards 100% of our car and van fleets being zero emission vehicles by 2030, or earlier where markets allow"

The company's 28,000-strong fleet, the second largest in the UK, is going zero emissions by 2030 and will be supported by a newly created, dedicated project team focussed on cutting fleet emissions and helping to identify alternative, cleaner technologies.

All the troll traders/shorters repeatedly claimed there would not be any AFC news during COP26 because nobody would hold back and sign an agreement during COP26. These muppets were still claiming this yesterday. And as usual they were wrong. Not only did we get the Prince of Wales news, which was not 'lucky because he was there' as I see someone has claimed, they shipped the Extreme E Fuel Cell EV Charger all the way from Sardinia to Glasgow FFS (when it's next planned use is in Dorset!), so it was far from a coincidence, it was planned well ahead. And now we have an agreement signed at COP26, with AGS from Abu Dhabi. We may have other deals signed at COP26 but held back under NDA, it's obvious from the news today that it is quite possible.

Why no RNS? Who knows? Maybe because it's gone straight into the trading update 'post year end' section?

The AEA is seeking to facilitate the establishment of a globally harmonised Certification Scheme for Low-Carbon Ammonia to support development of the market for low- and zero-carbon ammonia. I've said in the past a few times that GridServe could be a good client for AFC, due to their big EV Hub installations, where due to the sheer size of what they are installing in each site will cause problems with grid capacity, which AFC can fix.

Also I've said that Ionity would be another good client for AFC, as they need to build out capacity on Motorways, and we know from press articles that these are notoriously short of grid capacity and require expensive Substations and loads of roadworks to get them up to the capacity they will need to be to reach the UK's targets. AFC can easily fix the issue.

In both cases, AFC could be a permanent solution, or a temporary one whilst they await the grid upgrades over a few years, and moved from site to site as grid upgrades progress.

AFC also advised a while back that they were talking to companies installing EV charging hubs, and I suggested GridServe at the time.

Now we see the ABB Porsche Taycan Road Trip stopped to charge at ABB EV Charging Partner sites of Ionity and Gridserve, so to me it suggests that Ionity and GridServe are waiting for the ABB + AFC High Power EV Charger to be available for testing.

BLDP causing a FC/H2 sector drop today because of their Q3 results. Based on the numbers below, they are heading for a FY loss of $100m, which is about £74m on a turnover of about the same amount. AFC's H1 loss was only £3.3m, and although ramping up to 100 staff will cost more, you can bet that when AFC get revenues similar to BLDP, they won't be losing £74m by filling £74m of orders!!. £74m is only 90 of AFC's 160kW systems at the lowest cost quoted by AFC of £5,100 per kW CAPEX cost. Now think about ABB, Mace, Acciona. 90 in a year should not be difficult, especially after COP26.

If there is no RNS tomorrow, then I'd fully expect the trading update RNS on Thursday or Friday, because the events scheduled in on Thursday and Friday at COP26 are not directly relevant to AFC, and therefore AB should be back at AFC HQ on Thursday.

Tomorrow is quite likely AB's big day at COP26, as it is electric vehicle day. Also we have ABB and Formula E converging on COP26 at the same time.

As with the Prince of Wales RNS, and RNS from COP26 could come at any time of day, depending on the timing of the events AB is attending.

It's looking very likely that the ABB and Formula E road trips will both arrive in Glasgow tomorrow. ABB are lead sponsor of Formula E. My guess is they will meet up in Glasgow for a show of force, rather than have independent ends to their road trips.
