AFC need to prove the systems can sell in decent quantity, prove the longevity of the systems, and become continuously profitable. There is unlikely to be a bid for AFC until those things happen.

The thing with the S Series Prototype is that it has not been commercially proven yet. Why would ABB go to the lengths of integrating an unproven Fuel Cell of 10kW with a rapid charger of 50kW to possibly 350kW? Firstly they would want to see the S Series Fuel Cell proven by AFC, and once proven they would then integrate it.

ABB will have clients lined up for the L Series, client that don't have space restrictions and just need a few 50kW to 100kW Chargers for their fleet, which can be covered by the 100kW to 160kW of the L Series, along with an ABB battery storage container.

Absolutely, seen it many times myself too.

Brokers often take a couple of days to issue new guidance to ii and HNW clients, as it takes them some time to get through all of the company news each day and then do the analysis.

ii's and HNW also wait for the volatility to die down, in many cases their company investing policies do not allow them to buy during high volatility. They then accumulate once all the day traders have walked off with their short term beer money.

With the S Series we'd be looking at 2MW in a 40ft container vs 400kw of L Series in the same footprint. So a 1MW Power Station using S Series instead of L Series would be 5MW.

The image from the Annual Report shows a power station with 768 L Series stacks. That's 7.68MW of L Series stacks, but with S Series stacks it would be a much more useful 38.4MW and not much bigger for a 50MW power station.

I do hope AFC put the SuperGreen Power Station back on the list, as places like Japan and South Korea would be knocking the door down for them, and the S Series Fuel Cell is the enabler of this concept.

The news today from ABB suggests AFC have completed the development work on Alkamem and it is now a commercial product. Why else would AFC move so quickly from 'developing a 10kW prototype S Series Fuel Cell', to suddenly building a 200kw commercial S Series Fuel Cell for ABB, and why else would ABB sign an agreement that provided that, unless they were 100% assured that AFC could build it, which would require a commercial Alkamem Membrane now, not in the future. Hopefully the trading update will confirm that this is the case.

My post from yesterday is below, and it is still a possibility, my theory being that ABB wanted the S Series deal agreed first, as it's a major priority (driven by customer demand) for them. Sale of L Series systems can't be far behind, as not everyone will want or need a 200kW compact system, there is definitely room for both systems to be sold in parallel, and ABB have finished their testing, so in theory an ABB product launch soon too.

ABB have stated that they will convert all of their 10,000 vehicle fleet to EV's. They have received the AFC part of the new EV charger, and they are integrating it with their own high power EV charger electronics and power storage (batteries!), with the help of a few AFC technical staff. I also suggest they are integrating an off the shelf Ammonia Cracker, so that they can offer the complete solution.

It's quite possible that by now (measuring from when ABB signed the agreement with AFC) that ABB have also completed a survey of all company locations and can see which one's would benefit from AFC+ABB EV Chargers, such that when the system is announced to the public, ABB can order x number for themselves, plus x number for demo units in each of the countries where they sell EV Chargers and see a clear market for these off-grid systems.

That in itself could be a VERY BIG order, and one that would be viewed as investing into their own sales pipeline, so would be easy to get sign-off for the cost.

Maybe AFC are waiting for this?

The 200kW S Series Fuel Cell will be massive because it not only fits the scope of very large off-grid EV Chargers and Data Centre power, especially where available space is limited, but it also opens up the markets for big off-grid gensets such as in the mining industry or complete remote Army bases (Extreme E going to one in December), and the Marine and Rail propulsion industry. Also Hyperscale Data Centres too. And much more.

Think also that 200kW in a 10ft container equals the possibility of 1MW in a 40ft container, as there would be more stacks but only one BoP.

It also opens up the prospect of the SuperGreen Power Stations that AFC designed many years ago, where there would be maybe 50MW inside a building. With the high density of the S Series, that is far easier to achieve now. Places like Japan and South Korea that have announced plans to burn Hydrogen and Ammonia in combustion power stations, could switch to such SuperGreen Power Stations and gain much higher efficiency, lower maintenance, and no NOx emissions (which they will get from combustion).

As we didn't get the trading update today, I suspect there is more 'other news' incoming, which is being given time and resources priority over the trading update.

The question I have for AIM is why do you bother wasting your time thinking up answers to garmoan's drivel, when you must know by now that garmoan does not believe ANYTHING that he posts, he has NO INTEREST in the answers, and he only posts to get responses that fill the board with his drivel, same as ade and others do.

Has anyone written to AFC yet, to ask where the annual trading update is? No point moaning or discussing it unless you do that, as it's all baseless waffle otherwise.

Global investment in electric vehicle charging is not enough to meet demand, according to estimates from Siemens Financial Services (SFS).

In new research released by the firm, it’s estimated that the size of the global investment gap for EV charging infrastructure currently sits at around $45.25 billion from 2021-2023. The biggest indicator of an RNS tomorrow, would be the trading update RNS in 2018 on exactly the same date. In 2019 and 2020 the trading update was earlier, but those years AB was not at the biggest climate convention in history, showing our system and signing at least one agreement. As COP finished on Friday, AB should have been back logged into work at the weekend, updating the draft trading update with his news and thoughts from COP26, ready for an RNS tomorrow. The only thing that would prevent that IMVHO is if he's had to go off to sign other agreements or deals at the weekend.
