Afternoon all
Smartbeds
The Hoste is located at the village end of our kittle road when in Burnham Market...Herrings Lane
We often wander down there with the dogs in the evening for a pint etc...sit outside is very pleasant
But IMO it is a shadow of its former self...
it used to be owned by terrific S African couple and everything was really good...one of our favourites
but we no longer eat there...
Oddly...and it depends WHAT you are looking for...the very unprepossessing Jolly Sailors is one of our current favourites
simple fare and really nice staff...and the beer is well kept too
I could recommend other places
but frankly they seem to change hands so often and the food becomes pretty variable
a good case was The Lifeboat Inn...it was great but now avoid apart from a pint
BTW
I posted a while ago re Morocco ...
that 95% of possible wealth creation here is in the geology...
the rest is a rounding error
Upon reflection, I might have understated the role of the geology
Part of the 5% or less are of course the geo politics and the management
I ALWAYS meet the management when investing in E&D
I want to see how they tick at close quarters
On one occasion ...after a couple of hours in his pleasant enough company...
I told the CEO of another company that IMO he was capable of leading his shareholders over a cliff
and I thought would probably do so
On another occasion, I was in a CEO office and having listened to his waffle for an hour,
I told him that, before meeting him , I suspected he was either a crook or stupid
but now that I had had the chance to meet him, I concluded that he was both
oddly he and I remain on cordial terms
BOTH of those latter examples cost shareholders their shirts
In stark contrast...
I met PG at my old hunting ground
(10 Basinghall Street ...the basement used to be home to The City Circle where I spent several days per week concluding deals about 200 years ago...but more recently it became another venue and was chosen by the broker for the PG/GRH meeting)
After the meeting...I walked up the stairs to street level,
and told myself that I had just met a bloke who was likely to make a lot of money for me
I trust my knowledge
I trust my guts
Yes...both could be wrong this time
but I was delighted when I was able to buy in here ...in 7 figure volume... at CHEAP price (I openly posted at the time!)
I was delighted then
even more so now
Yes...'sitting' is hard...of course
Regards
