Agree with Crypt. On a 12 month fixed term - 50% sterling bond and for fun, 50% GGP, with a view to not selling the equities, unless absolutely necessary. Learning to invest from a young age is about the best advice anyone could give the young lady!

My unscientific observation is that prices depend mostly on the local competition, relating to price and proximity. My Tesco petrol is close to a BP, and obviously undercuts them, but for the best price expect to see an Asda not too far away.. The 10p premium for SUL over RUL irks me. It used to be 7p, but obviously someone woke-up to a bit of missed margin. I can't believe the different additive package costs 10p/litre. Oh well...

Tesco is far from my favourite grocer. I use the dispensing pharmacy, but rarely buy food there. The checkouts seem continually under-staffed and if you dare to ask a question, the response is nearly always borderline rude. However, I do like their Momentum 99 SUL, and my dividends subsidise my frequent purchases...

Iamald - I can't even remember when I first invested in Costain. Change of brokers, computers, medications...

However, despite the slow start, I think my original confidence in the company is finally paying-off and I'm glad I got my daughter vested, again, years ago.... I'm now at the stage where I feel a further investment might well reap a more rapid return. Just my personal thoughts. DYOR....
