Clued and Couerdelion,
No, what I wrote was purely my own musings this morning. I hadn't at that point seen any reference to Germany's potential change of policy.
I do, however, follow the situation quite closely via a number of sources, including Youtube, having attempted to weed-out and ignore the propagandists and obvious 'click-bait' channels. Part of my interest stems from the fact that I have a very close friend in Russia, whose personal reports I trust without question. Thankfully, she's a resident of Novosibirsk, so well away from the political bubbles of Moscow and St.P, but needless to say, her 21 year-old son was forced to leave the country in a hurry and her 14 year-old daughter has been taken out of school due to the relentless propaganda. Based on my sources, I feel there is quite clear evidence that Russia's ability to continue this war is now seriously compromised, and that infrastructure and industry not directly connected to the war effort is under unsustainable pressure related to economics and manpower. Of course, my view may well be wrong, but in five years time I doubt the Russian Federation will be seen in a similar light as it was three years ago..
