Mapp - I had a query with one of my banks (relating to a transfer that hadn't cleared) and I couldn't understand the guy's heavy accent, so I asked him to 'speak English', causing him to just hang-up. I complained to the management who reviewed the recorded conversation and gave me £150 for inconvenience and a promise that the employee would be receiving 'more training'. It does seem at time as if customer satisfaction has little meaning with banks and other financial services - and I don't intend to let these matters slide...

I find it interesting that the former Chief Economist of BIS (and other very significant financial institutions) is far more vague in his predictions than 90% of armchair pundits and the majority of YouTube content providers....

Yeah, it's been a rocky road, but I think we're finally seeing some benefits from the streamlining over the past few years. I'm content with the results and feel more confident for the future. Fingers crossed...

Hjkl - Yes, totally agree. I'm not a huge user of AI, but from my limited exposure, it seems little more than an ultrafast search engine, with little ability to sort fact from fiction in its summaries. I believe there have been several court cases where data scraped from AI has caused trouble in courts, even mistrials. I'm loath to believe any decent law firms would risk their reputation.

My $64,000 question - Is it reasonable to average down at current levels?

She's a very old friend, but with all kindness, it has to be said, she's not the 'sharpest knife in the drawer'. We discussed this topic a couple of years ago, but despite giving her quite a bit of detailed advice, she did nothing. So in this morning's conversation I was slightly dismissive (I was on my way out) and said in broad terms that gold is a store of wealth over the long-term and not to be concerned about dips in the price. I even told her that I bought a coin from Chards last week and before it even arrived at my door, the value had increased significantly. Anyway, I think if I keep my head down for a few days, this little perturbation will probably go unnoticed....

Funny thing, earlier this morning I got a call from a friend in New York. She wanted my advice on buying some gold for her two sons, but was concerned it might suddenly drop in price :-o Not sure if I dare to call her just now...

It's all about physical just now. The Trump armada has the potential to seriously disrupt global business and more seriously become bloody and not just in Iran.
