From a fellow Kentishman, I'm quite happy for the opportunity to buy another ISA tranche at around 660 or better. Wasn't confident we'd see that again. Locked and loaded, as some might say...

I think the current situation could indeed have an impact on getting our assets developed. Shale production is in decline and was not making much margin at $50/$70. All those vested in American hydrocarbons will have more incentive and confidence in developing Alaska. Could provide the catalyst we've been lacking. And FWIW, I don't believe we've yet had the means to extract our resources. It's going to need some big money to get the oil and cash flowing...

He may well be unintentionally hastening our progress toward capitalising on our gold, copper and tungsten assets...

Yep, I think we'll see a risk-off dip tomorrow across the board, but it seems to me that gold has proved its resilience since January and there will be greater awareness and confidence in a 'traditional' safe haven asset. The big sell-off to provide liquidity on other hedged positions should have worked through and I would not be surprised to see $5000 crossed again sooner rather than later.

I already have a position, but to be honest, I'd forgotten about it! So, I for one appreciate the heads-up. Will be topping up next week, cheers!

BlueToff - Since Speedy seems busy, I'll offer my view. Hatton Garden Metals are fine, in fact they've just opened a big new premises in HG. None of these serious bullion dealers stray too far away from spot prices, so I'm not quite sure what you mean by " Looking to buy 10X '26 Brits which appear to be £4/500 cheaper than others". When it comes to buying (or selling) investment bullion, it's not really that difficult. Base your buy/sell decision on the spot price and then search for the lowest premium/discount to spot that any of the established dealers quote. Look out for 'special offers' on the sales side. Recently, Chards were selling 'Best Value' (pre-owned) sovs at 3.5% over spot price. When it comes to selling, it doesn't matter much whether new or pre-owned - you will be looking at spot price less discount for anything other than rare numismatic coins. Also keep in mind that if you are likely to want to sell or distribute coins, at current prices, 1oz coins are quite 'chunky', but generally the smaller the coin, the bigger the premium. Pre-owned sovs are very liquid. You can put a couple in your wallet if going abroad to provide a few £k worth of 'cash' if you think you might need it. They are unobtrusive....

Well done for those who bought earlier in the week. I had my eye off the ball, but added a few £££ today into my ISA. I think the fundamentals are sound. If it continues upward, I'll sell-off some from my trading a/c. Overall, I'm more focussed on diggers...

Well, I have to say, that's the best TACO I've ever had, and that's quite impressive for a former resident of Los Angeles. And an extremely cheerful update from Shaun. Also filled-up with SUL on my way home this afternoon at £1.65, although at 13ish MPG, that won't last long....

In the absence of any suggestions, either serious or amusing, and missing the open this morning, I decided to run it down to the wire. At 16:07 I bought a chunk for my ISA at £6.62, fully aware of the deteriorating situation in Iran but also the possibility of a news release from Oz. Significant average-up, so more of a hedge against a last minute TACO or a missive from Shaun intended to spread some cheer... I'm content.

Historically, AIM stocks have not featured heavily on my shopping list in the first few days after the new allowance kicks-in. Reading Charles Archer over the weekend, he suggests that unlike the huge dividend aristocrats, the buying interest for small caps can be enough to spike the market for a few days. With GGP, we have 'a lot of balls in the air' with respect to POG/war/imminent news .

I'd be interested to hear from others with more experience in this scenario. Admittedly the £20k ISA allowance isn't a King's ransom, but collectively? Thanks in advance to all those who can offer some serious insight!

For the record, I'm a misanthrope. Equal opportunity hater ( my three daughters excepted). Why? Work it out for yourselves...
