Part of the attraction of GLEN to me is that they are traders as well as producers. They effectively started out from Marc Rich, who had offices just up from the lane from my office in the city. At that point their main interest was trading. I think circumstances are developing which are useful to a good trading team.

HairyBison - My partner is mainland Chinese, but she lived and worked in HK for several years. Her view is that Hang Seng ('Ever growing') is popular because it's not British... She believes that it will facilitate integration between HK and the mainland and be instrumental in strengthening the group's activities in China overall. For anyone wishing to increase exposure to Chinese business, but with an anchor to the UK, this appears to be an ideal vehicle.

I was waiting this morning for some dividends to land in my ISA, in order to add to my gold digger holdings. Was just about to trade when I saw the HSBC dip. Couldn't resist! Despite the suspension of the buy-backs, I expect we'll be comfortably back over £10 fairly swiftly.

Canchat - The ride is frequently more fun than the arrival, but to be serious, generally this equity is considered undervalued, by most analysts. I've used the dip to increase my holding. I have no intention of selling. However we're all in different positions, so DYOR and execute whichever way suits your own personal circumstances. Be wary, 'Here may be dragons' as many ancient maps warn us.....

It did cross my mind that there maybe some link to Tom Palmer's departure and GGP, but then I remembered that Rick Rule has mentioned a few times that Newmont had become unwieldy with its portfolio of juniors and the programme of disposals was very much overdue and part of the board's agreed upon strategy. I think we just got lucky with the timing, amongst other things...

Spod - Agree with you - just wish it was a bit easier to buy! Interactive Investor won't allow buys and Trading212 has terrible liquidity. Frustrating...

Does anyone know the profit profile for alcohol free lines compared to full-leaded? I'm always amazed at the prices, considering that presumably there's a big chunk of duty not being paid..
