RR forced to issue RNS regarding press speculation about the possible sale of L'Orange. Interesting and timely disposal if it goes ahead and would mark the first major structural change to RR's power division since East took over.

Rolls-Royce is to open a jet engine testbed in the US, two months after plans for a new facility in Derby were confirmed. The manufacturing giant has signed a lease to take over the entire 440,000 sq ft former Texas Aero Engine Services LLC (TAESL) facility in Fort Worth. The testbed will be used to carry out endurance test runs for Rolls-Royce Trent engines, allowing the company to continue to support its growing fleet. Good news and shows confidence in future.

Yes they went ex-div on the 7th Dec so if you sold after that you will still get the dividend.

Not a cheque as such, but the divi cash was paid into my share dealing account on the 10th as scheduled and reinvested within 24h.

Just checked my GSK holding on today's dividend reinvestment. I first bought in 2014 and have reinvested the dividends (including special) ever since. I am currently a miserly 0.48% up on this. I bought it at much the same time as AZN thinking that of the two GSK was by far the safer bet. How wrong can you be?

Just don't take the corners too fast! The missus has an Audi TT 3.2L V6 and that is quite fast enough for me, although as that car is now getting on a bit she has her beady eye on a Maserati (fat chance). I hold both RDSB and BP in my portfolio, so will not argue with those as investment choices.

PP it is good to hear that you have another �50K parked elsewhere, so at least all of your eggs are not in one basket. I cannot give you specific advice about where you should put some of your RMG cash if you were to sell though. A great deal depends on how long you want to tie your money up in the stock market. I run a portfolio of 20 shares in mainly FTSE100/250 stocks (One US stock) and this constitutes about 20% of my total savings (excluding my pension) so each stock is only about 1% of my total in play. I do very little short-term trading, reinvest all dividends and rely on compounding to increase the pot. Any capital gain is just an added bonus. I feel this level of risks suits me and so far the share pot has grown steadily since I started. All shares are within an ISA (held with Halifax) so all gains are also completely free of tax, which has the added bonus of not having to interact with HMRC.

If I had nearly �70K tied up in RMG shares I would not be sleeping nights. Unless this represents a very small fraction of your total pot, I strongly advise diversifying your investment!

Agreed, if widespread this indicates a problem. On the positive side if the numbers still come in way ahead of expectation we will know that if production/distribution could be improved then revenue would be even higher.

Went to TESCO last night to do the big Xmas shop and on the list was a couple of boxes of FEVR tonic. Got to the aisle and the stock was completely sold out, not a bottle or can remaining. Hope this is not indicative of supply problems and that the shelves will be replenished soon. Anyway on the positive side it is selling like hot cakes as shelves were certainly full when we were last in on Sunday. I did pick up a bottle of the "Madagascan Cola" and will try this as a mixer with some decent rum (Diplomatico). Happy Xmas all!

Agreed that was a typo. However his excuse that he had left HS2 by the time the actual decision was made does not wash. If the Email had been sent down the line, those payments could clearly have been avoided. I suggest you go back to haranguing the militants and/or boasting about your gains on RMG . I notice that wherever you pop up the MO is pretty much the same and equally boring and unpleasant.

Lets hope our (relatively) new CEO Mr Kirby has a better grip of things financial than he did while running HS2. It seems that he failed to pass an Email from government down the chain of command at the company. This Email clearly stated that staff wishing to leave the company on its relocation from London to Brum be offered only basic statutory redundancy payments. This failure of communication seems to have cost the UK taxpayer an extra £1.67M in enhanced settlements for those staff.

I would be very surprised if this were not a done deal, but there will be profit taking in the short term as there were buyers on the drop who will cash out now it has recovered. I am happy to hold long term and let the divi reinvestment smooth out the bumps along the way.

Well whatever the low tone of the debate on here the fact remains that the markets seem to like what they have heard about the potential agreement so far. If this continues I see this as a gain for both sides. The workers concerns are diminished and stability is restored and thus confidence in the long term future of the business increases somewhat. No need for all this name calling and ill temper. Perhaps the warring sides could declare an Xmas break in hostilities and Chill out.
