When did you last buy anything that required delivey by parcel in response to junk mail advertising? 99.9% of it goes straight in the bin and most of it comes bundled with the weekend papers now. We get almost zero advertising mail delivered these days compared with 5-10 years ago.

And what impact is GDPR going to have on the fastest growing sector of RMG's domestic and overseas business ie. parcels? None. We all know letter volumes are in terminal decline and the impact that GDPR will have on the rate of this decline is as yet unproven but even if it hastens the end, I do not see it affecting the long term prospects of RMG. Still having bought in big time at the bottom I am happy to sit this out one way or the other.

Why get upset about a price prediction with no background information to back it up? The broker Jefferies says RMG should be trading at 330p with a rating of "underperform" but at least they state the reason for their dire prediction, unlike our recent poster.

Chill out FCS! Everything goes up and down in cycles that is why you have a broad-based portfolio of shares in different market sectors. Some will be on the up others on the down, so what. RMG has put on 31% since last November while Rolls Royce is down some 13% over the same period. It does not mean that RMG is a star share while RR. sucks! They are simply at different stages of the cycle and in very different sectors.

This was in some top fund managers picks for shares he would buy for his grandchildren in June 2014. The share price then was 278p and four years later................293p. Hardly stellar and with a measly 2% divi not a great income stock either. Lets hope his grandkids live long enough to see a return!

PHNX have been very good to me over the years and I do not see any reason to doubt that their solid performance and and steady dividend growth will not continue. Having sold the IPO allocation at the top and then buying back in a much bigger stake in 2014 when they were languishing in the low 400s and reinvesting all of the dividends I am up about 50% at present. Gerry, short answer is yes he can. It is all to do with licensing of technology where the IP is USA-based and the granting of permissions. This is why BP has just halted work on the Rhum North sea field owned 50:50 by Iran's state oil company. Those permissions expire end Sept and are unlikely to be renewed. From another tack he can also prevent RR doing business with the USA on national security grounds if they continue to deal with Iran so he has many ways to squeeze EU-based companies trading with Iran if he wants to play dirty.

Looks like the Airbus deal to supply 100 aircraft to Iran is dead in the water now that Trump has pulled the USA out of the nuclear agreement and wants to tighten the economic noose with far reaching sanctions. The deal was for 16 Airbus A350 XWB's and also 330s. RR never specified how many engines would be supplied, but it is thought that about half the order would be RR-powered. Not great news at the moment given our other woes.

CEREUS Where have you been for the past 30 years? We no longer have a car industry (it is all foreign owned), no longer have a commercial aircraft/helicopter industry (thrown away years ago), shipbuilding (ditto), microchip development (ARM sold) I could go on. We cling on in some industrial sectors (military aircraft, powerplants, airliners) mainly by dint of pan European projects (Airbus, Eurofighter). Much of the latter is now under threat after Brexit. Seems to me that worrying about the fate of a few poxy supermarkets is akin to fiddling while Rome burns!

And the shares will be cancelled, so not destined to line the pockets of senior management as performance-related bonus payments. Good news for us PIs?

The average Joe punter in the street could not give a monkey's toss who is merging with who and who is taking over who and are hardly likely to change their weekly shopping venue based on fevered speculation about market sector share. They go on price and more importantly whichever of the big 4 has a store closest to where they live. I will not schlepp over the other side of the city to shop at Sainsbury or Asda my nearest store is Tesco and that is where we do (a much reduced) weekly shop. Having said that the place is about as inviting as a morgue these days and I noticed that they are really scaling back on many lines, so large TV's and electrical goods all disappeared a few months ago and far less choice of goods elsewhere as well. All no doubt based on streamlining the business and cutting costs.

all of this simply reinforces my view that the retail sector is to be avoided at all costs. Everything is reactive either to the threat of Amazon (Tesco/Booker) or the discounters (ASDA/Sainsbury) and all it does is shake things down in such a way that nobody can be certain of any outcomes. Good for a bit of trading activity if you like gambling, so good luck to all in the retail lottery.
