Aviva?.....New CEO, but is he any good as a 26 yr company man? The jury is out but Aviva have underperformed in the sector long before they bought Friends Life, which is the point I came into owning AV stock. PHNX is the insurance Co with clear upward momentum and the divi (unlike Aviva's) is safe as houses and growing steadiliy. I still hold AV but rather grudgingly (a bit like VOD) it is pedestrian at best.

nuri123a I might suggest PHNX as a home for your cash. Just about to be promoted to the FTSE100 (March 18th), results have exceeded expectations yet again and dividend yield is high and very progressive. Finally, it is BREXIT proof and its SP has been held back by the general malaise and the fact that they are not in a sexy sector (closed life funds). However, many Co's are looking to offload risk in their pension schemes over the coming year and PHNX has a knack of taking them over and turning them into profitable assets.

I can answer your question simply "For all of your forecasts, not one of you is capable of spelling out what would move this higher" the answer is in the short term........ nothing. I think most on here have realised this and are faced with two choices. Hold for the long term and hope for a recovery. This could take a couple of years or more. Sell now and move your depleted cash into a stock which you think might make you some money. In your case judging by your increasingly hysterical reactions to any fall in the price of RMG I would suggest the latter course of action for you. My self I have a smallish stake at an average of 300p and will hold.

I also hold PRU and AV (as a result of the Friends Life takeover). as well as PHNX.This is about as much exposure to the sector as I want at present. I did hold RSA until the debacle in Ireland and have not considered going back in. SLA could be a recovery play, but too risky for me at present time.

Final dividend increased by 3.5% 23.4p per share to be paid on May 7th. Joining the FTSE 100 should give this a gentle boost as well.This was one of my early portfolio buys, made simply on the basis of the high dividend yield and defensive nature of the stock at the time. I have never regretted buying in and have taken up both rights issues since purchase in full. I am now a tad overweight on this but will not be trimming my holding as this is surely just about Brexit proof?

No Nuri123a, you think that the RMG share price is simply reflecting YOUR anxiety. If your patience is really "razor thin" then sell up and be gone! Just think how much better you will sleep as your other investments continue to prosper.

They do make very nice watches though by Breguet and Patek (not Rolex, far too vulgar) and rather nice Hi Fi (Nagra). Oh, and white wines from St Saphorin, Dezaley and Epesses are very nice indeed. So not all bad and the skiing is fab-ul-ous.

You can buy property in Switzerland but it is so horrendously expensive that you need to be a formula 1 racing driver or a rock star. However, the vast majority of the population rents an apartment (or more rarely a house) and these are all owned by Insurance Companies. If you do want to buy though you can get an inter-generational (hereditary) mortgage so your kids and their kids can keep up the payments. My boss ended up buying a place in Moudon after I left, which was relatively affordable compared with Lausanne. I think his kids are still paying for it now even though they now live in Luxembourg and the USA.

PS then there are the rules:
1. No flushing the toilet after 10pm at night (yes seriously folks)
2. Not allowed to install your own washing machine (in case you use it at the wrong time and it makes a noise)
3. Taking a bath before 7am or after 10pm is forbidden. (noise again)
4. Cars must not be washed on a Sunday
5. Garden bonfires must only be lit on a Saturday
6. Jet ski's snowmobiles are banned

If it weren't for the fact that you could escape the damned place so easily by slipping over the border to France or Italy I would have died of boredom. But woe betide those who tried to evade the Swiss border checks on the way back, where they were primarily searching car boots for imported meat (very protectionist the old Swiss and believe me Swiss meat IS crap). What then has been the performance of the long-term bonds and currency hedges that were purchased using the cash generated from the gold sale? For all you know they could now be worth more than the original asset sold and by a considerable margin. UK manufacturers are cutting jobs at the fastest pace for six years with confidence in the sector hit by Brexit uncertainty, according to a closely-watched survey by IHS Markit/CIPS. It also found that companies stockpiled raw materials at a record pace last month. While firms' output continued to grow, this growth was the sole result of a build up of stocks of finished goods in the run up to Brexit.

It also said growth in new orders slowed to "near stagnation".
