nurr123a I do not think it is constructive to be either anti-management or anti-unions, they just have to engage in a positive way with each other. I think you will find that the most successful industries are those in which this is true rather than those that have either banned unions or conversely are dominated by unionised labour and have weak management. Most of the things that we take for granted now as fair in employment practice have been agreed upon through union initiatives and constructive dialogue.

Good luck with the search for better value elsewhere. I agree this has been pedestrian at best but don't use AZN as a basis for comparison as they have been a laggard for years both before and after the failed Pfizer bid and have only picked up now on more positive news about pipeline in oncology. However, not out of the woods yet and don't forget that Trump is gunning for big Pharma in the USA over the prices charged to healthcare insurers in the USA relative to deals that overseas governments get (our NHS for instance). Senate hearings underway now.

This is not a buyback in the usual sense in that the issued share number will remain neutral. The buyback is merely to compensate for the issue of new paper as part of a convertible bond issued back in 2016. Also the shares will be held in treasury and not cancelled, so even more neutral with respect to company value.

Bit of a snooze fest here compared to the heady days of last years high. Could just oscillate for months until the real performance of the US sales machine becomes clear? Happy to hold at present, but I pity the many who got in here at this level or even significantly above as they may be twitching for an exit.

The deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) involved payments of £497,252,645 (comprising disgorgement of profits of £258,170,000 and a financial penalty of £239,082,645) plus interest. Rolls-Royce also reimbursed the SFO’s costs in full (c£13m).

I actually employ many EU and non-EU citizens and successive governments have made the latter more and more difficult and onerous for reasons both bureaucratic and financial. Still if you want to stifle the ongoing efforts of scientists and clinicians to improve treatments for diseases like cancer, alzheimer's and diabetes, then restricting immigration (both EU and non-EU) will certainly get you there.
