The weald is shale oil and fracking so near to the luvvies in London would not be economically or environmentally viable. The last thing BP needs is to engage in activity as controversial as shale oil extraction in the UK post-Macondo. Onshore shale will all be over fairly soon as the UK is too densely populated to support the kind of devastation that these methods entail.

Canada's transport minister said that satellite data showed possible similarities between flight patterns of Boeing 737 Max planes operating in Canada and the Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed. "As a result of new data that we received this morning, and had the chance to analyze, and on the advice of my experts and as a precautionary measure, I have now issued a safety notice." FAA beginning to look a little exposed or what?

My post to which you responded made no comment whatsoever about Rolls Royce engines can you read or what? Unless I am mistaken and the CFMi engines that power the 737 max 8 ARE actually made by RR and not the US/Franco consortium? I am sure you will put me right though.

It is hardly surprising given the turbulence we are experiencing. In the UK there is Brexit uncertainty. In Europe things are slowing economically in the US there is Trump who seems to tweet daily on initiatives that directly impact on company share prices (the latest is his war on Big Pharma Medicare drug pricing) and then there is the downturn in China and Trump's trade war. A pretty toxic cocktail playing out, so not much cause for optimism at present but things could change and pragmatism generally finds a way.

I am not so exercised by shorting as some on here. It is simply a legal way of making money if you gamble that a company is going through a period of financial stress and this will result in a reduced SP. I do not think RMG is being shorted to zero like Carillion. Sit tight and average down if you feel confident in RMG long term.

No point scoring intended at all and it is appalling that so may people have been lost in what may turn out to be two avoidable incidents. I note the the FAA are under increasing political pressure in the USA to ground the 8 max fleet until the preliminary report is issued from the Ethiopia crash. I am somewhat surprised they have not done so. If the Boeing situation deteriorates then many predict "aviation carnage" surely this will impact RR? In the meantime, calm down.

Nothing directly to affect RR as the engines on the 737 Max 8 are not made by us, but if this gets worse for Boeing overall, it could affect RR in the context of overall orders for other models. I flew to Tromso (Norwegian) back in January and the plane was a 737 Max 8. I must admit I had a few thoughts when I saw the model on the in flight safety card. I did not share these with the missus in the next seat!

Nuri123a Maybe you should think again about Aviva as it is currently down over 4% today on no news, surely that is a bit too racy for you?

Aside from RR the biggest employer in Derby is Toyota, at least for the time being. It was probably uncertainty about the latter rather than any commentary on the former that took SKY news to Derby :-)

Nuri123a I strongly suggest you take your impending nervous breakdown over the RMG share price elsewhere as this is getting boring. I suggest the snoozefest that is Aviva may suit you better as holding RMG involves a level of raw excitement you seem unable to cope with. :-)

Market seems to like the Geronimo purchase(s). Anything that gets us more diversified and independent of the UK economy is good news in my view.
