Global Graphite - TGR17 Feb 2022 08:01
TGR will become a globally significant graphite producer when it reaches a production capacity of 30,000tpa in the June quarter - there are very few (you can count on one hand) producers outside of China capable of producing that amount. And it doesn't stop there.
TGR's Madagascan graphite is perfect for industrial end users owing to flake size and level of purity the company can achieve. Between each 18,000tpa module lined up the company will be qualifying its material with new end users, establishing and growing its current end-markets and new ones.
In 2024, not that far away, if management continues to deliver as it has done to date TGR will be producing 84,000tpa of graphite concentrate out of Madagascar alone. That's why the current 18,000tpa module is so important imo: if TGR completes it successfully then it shows to the market TGR is capable of building its vision as all it has to do is repeat the process another 3 times. The current flake graphite market as of 2021 was just over 1,000,000tpa - let the scale of TGR's ambitions be clear from this. That was before graphite demand from the Li-ion battery (EV) industry has really begun to take off and we are seeing that now with higher spherical graphite prices which have been touted to reach their previous all time highs, and which the company is aiming to produce at its downstream modules in India.
Make no mistake with the Mozambique acquisition and the modules in India able to supply a range of industries requiring graphite on top of the Madagascan primary engine, TGR is aiming to be a global company. A dedicated anode facility elsewhere in the EU/US may also reinforce this, and with its track record hopefully others will see the company means business.
