You asked for my take on the EXE decision, so here it is……The company has yet to deliver a fuel cell product to market, and it was mindful that it needed some PR to keep up the momentum, and the EXE series was heaven sent, as it ticked all of the eco virtue signalling boxes. It was unlikely that the company could deliver a system which could deliver the requisite power on an on demand basis, and accordingly needed a large battery storage buffer, which , because of the significant carbon cost associated with battery production, let alone the issue of lithium sourcing, meant ghat the solution did not totally fit with the EXE agenda, and therefore they were ultimately going to look for a solution that provided a better fit. AFC was unlikely to be able to deliver on this requirement, so on the basis that discretion us the greater part of valour, withdrew from the arrangement, having obtained significant media coverage from season 1.
Personally, I think it was a master stroke to generate PR that the company did from what was, at the time, something which was effectively a development mule.
There will be no announcement from AB on this, because the company has never flagged up anything that could be perceived as representing any kind of failure.
My thoughts on AB? Possibly over promised before, but to a large extent has his hands tied until such time as the company actually has a proven product that it can sell.
