Be careful here guys, Evraz is tanking, this morning's gains could easily reverse

Unfortunately any rise atm is up against hurricane force head winds

Evraz is falling through the floor again, looking quite strong here for the moment though

If and when the crisis blows over, there'll be nothing to stop the share price powering back up. Until then, there'll be a lot of ups and downs, mostly downs. Right now it still feels like we're a million miles from the crisis being over anytime soon. Any upside movement will almost certainly be temporary considering all the sh*t that's going on in Ukraine. And any escalation of the conflict is likely to result in further market jitters and falls, not just here but right across the FTSE. I really don't like the tough talking rhetoric coming from western leaders either. Putin is an incredibly dangerous individual with 5900+ nuclear missiles at his disposal. The west urgently needs to tone down the rhetoric and get talking to him before this gets out of hand and more countries get pulled into the conflict.

The company is performing strongly, has been performing strongly.. but it's what the next year holds regards the conflict that's causing all the uncertainty. Bad news (the conflict) is over-riding the good news, hence the sp is struggling (as are most shares are this morning)

The company is performing strongly but its this statement that may cause an early drop, imo :

"We are shocked and appalled by the events going on in Ukraine. The conflict in Ukraine and related economic and political developments are likely to require a lot of management efforts to maintain company performance. However, despite a wide range of uncertainties we will be working under in 2022, it is our current intention to operate as normally as possible", said Vitaly Nesis, Group CEO, commenting on the results.

I think early drop followed by a bounce is most likely - we'll soon see!

It's a pure guess but I think we'll see small dip to start due to the Ukraine situation, followed potentially by a strong bounce possibly to £5 or so, before profit taking and market jitters over Ukraine sends the price lower again towards close. There's likely to be a lot of market volatility over the coming days no matter what.

Irrelevant hodjie tbh. Morrisons would have been promoted back to the ft100. The point I'm making is it's all about mcap and Morrisons recovered sufficiently just prior to the takeover for re-entry to the ft100

Morrisons was also ejected from the FTSE 100 some time ago - it happens whenever market cap falls below a certain threshold. Morrisons is now back in the FTSE 100 because market cap has recovered. It's purely about market cap - the FTSE 100 are the top 100 companies in terms of market cap. If evraz and poly fall too much, other companies waiting in the wings with bigger mcaps will be promoted to the ft100 whilst evraz/poly get demoted to the ft250. If their share prices later recover, there's every chance they'll one day be back in the ft100.

Johnson & the EU promising to send more arms to Ukraine could be seen by Putin as a declaration of war, a war by proxy? It's our hardware that's fighting Russian forces - ok, we're not the ones pulling the trigger, but it's one step away from being in direct military conflict against Russia. I agree with the sanctions but we need to stay the hell out it militarily. We've got to get talking, stop any language that's inflammatory or could risk escalating tensions, and just de-escalate the whole situation, it's the only way out of this.

Any news the conflict is over and this has 500% upside from the current price

The FTSE is the 8th biggest stock exchange in the world in terms of market valuation. Why would Evraz choose to delist? They wouldn't. And on what grounds could they be forced to delist? For the "crime" of having operations in Russia? They're an innocent party caught up in all of this. If steps were taken to have them delisted (for crimes they haven't committed) their lawyers would be instructed to fight it - and they'd win hands down.

The FTSE is the 8th biggest stock exchange in the world in terms of market valuation - I can't think of a single reason why Poly or Evraz would choose to delist. And there are no legal grounds to force them off either - if there was something going on between those companies and the Putin regime then yes, there may be grounds - but that's not the case. They can't be forced off just because they happen to have operations in Russia. My guess is sanctions and talks will bring the crisis to an end soon. The nuclear threat is hollow - it has to be taken seriously of course, but it's all bluff and bluster at the end of the day. It'll all blow over before long, and when it does stocks will rebound strongly - easy 100% to 200% or more upside here from the current price (and it could do that in one day upon news the conflict is over)

Surely blackrock's buy order will not have been filled yesterday alone? I'm not sure it will have been possible given the size of the buy? It'll surely take a good few days to fill that order? It's not beyond the realms of possibility the price is deliberately being held down to trigger enough sells to fill that buy order? The Russia situation is of course causing a lot of volatility but I'm thinking there may be a bit of manipulation/back scratching going on as well between blackrock and mm's?

Poly having operations in Russia is not reason to ban the company from the LSE. The company isnt in cahoots with the Putin regime, it merely happens to operate in Russia. There are no legal grounds to expel the company from the LSE even if LSE wanted to. Poly could choose to delist if they so wished, but they couldn't be made to delist.

It could be one of those days when a huge drop in the morning is followed by a huge bounce in the afternoon.. there's no guarantee but a bounce to £6+ is easily possible before close today - this is one of those shares that can move incredibly quickly in a short space of time so anything's possible following such a big drop.

Plenty of buying going on so I doubt small investors will have any problems selling. Let's not forget Poly is a FTSE 100 giant, not some illiquid aim share.

Polymetal getting absolutely hammered this morning

Could see one third of the share price wiped out today, that'd be around £1.26 down to about £2.50 a share. If it tanks at open, which seems likely, then we will probably see a decent bounce off the day's low before plunging again towards close as daytraders cash in, not willing to hold beyond today's close fearing further falls tomorrow. Sub £2 over the next few days is a distinct possibility.

Munch, my thoughts also. BP have lost the money. UK company.. UK just imposed sanctions on Russia.. Putin will definitely step in and make sure BP leave with nothing.
