Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Hivedoff...this is certainly one I've on the sidelines for ages with. It's just funny...some quite smart investing heads very bullish on it. Not the typical spiv institution but Chris Mills of Harwood and Andy Brough at Schroder's...usually listen quite hard at what they have to say. I was very bullish on it as although Rightmove has a network effect moat...it's also based on them being liked by the agents and it feels like OTM offers them potentially fantastic value. I'd have bought by my interpretation of last results was that they had not onboarded any new agents through H1 which really concerned me...
wish there was more debate on this board as find this a really interesting discussion...any thoughts from you?
similar view here to you Simon...however investor relations have confirmed that it wasn't an insider selling...that is enough for me to be loading up here to be honest. Very few institutions out there who are any good at what they do and could be selling for myriad reasons...however the founders know the true worth of this business and everything in my own research points to this being insanely undervalued now.
Its pretty frustrating Dean...but people are being a little impatient on this board with CNIC. If you'd put all your money in CNIC at beginning of 2022 you'd be sitting pretty vs. 90% of market. 3x where it is right now would still be cheap but it's a small cap in the UK...the largest discounted sector anywhere in the world. And it's also tech focused...an unloved industry.
The company also confirmed that institutional were sometimes using CNIC for liquidity as one of few tech stocks that they could sell off not at a massive loss.
On any kind of valuation measurement, there is just insane value on offer here. It will come through at somepoint.
One thing I pray they don't do is pay dividends...should be hoovering up shares with buybacks at these levels. Hate the weird obsession with dividends...buybacks all the way.
we have pretty much been told the results already + the company has already said more buybacks and dividends are coming. nothing to be worried about in the results before...
people's commentary on SP for this company are a bit OTT...yeah we should be valued 3x more for this growth opportunity but over the past year we are flat. a lot of other cash generating tech stocks are down +50%...
a bit of perspective would be good
Sorry but there is no question over whether this is Bonnier linked....it is....firm who advised him and represented him legally. Let's not pretend it might not be linked to him.
Also...no potential buyer of shares is ever going to come out and say 'hey all, we'll be hoovering up up to 30% of shares imminently....totally cool with the price rising exponentially off the back of us telling you all and we don't mind paying over the odds...just want you all to enjoy the ride' - that's what anyone is saying if they say this 'consortium' is for real. Let's be realistic...we have a toxic shareholder who is manipulating the price.
Sorry bud I actually got that wildly wrong....the statistic I was looking for is they could grow 50% a year until 2030 and only get to be 1% share of the market....it is absolutely insane!
For your reference - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wHZ7S1bZKE - think this is the best video which explains the online marketing segment (it really took me a while to understand; online presence is as clear as day but given growth in marketing, its only like 20% of business now!)
Enjoy the ride!
It's just a disgrace....and now everyone has realised this is Bonnier linked and that he is still around, we are looking at continued negative reactions in terms of SP because everyone is now so clear that he is nothing but toxic.
Only thing to do is too pick up at these cheap levels....
Welcome aboard Pompal...
This is a far bigger opportunity than Kape...I've always said so. They make look similar on an earnings ratio comparison...but the rate of growth on offer and addressable market is much bigger for CNIC and they are generating far more cash/higher returns on capital. Although Kape should have gone for much much more...there was some pretty aggressive accounting there and honestly I was pretty happy to move my gains from there (lower ones than should have been) over to this far higher yielding opportunity....
Just think...management has confirmed more buybacks and a dividend program to follow...combined with 70+% organic growth rates in a market where CNIC has only a c.2% share atm.
If this share doesn't create a future nest egg then honestly...I'll be hanging up my boots with investing.
Its probably his outright aim along with pumping it...but this absolutely ruins any kind of chance of institutional investors (proper ones who aren't criminal outfits) entering into this stock. No one will take the chance of being in something where you have an individual acting like this and manipulating the price...they will just never open themselves up to the risk and compliance departments will red flag it within 3 seconds.
The implications of this guy being involved are just so harmful.
Yep as so many would have...just showing again how toxic this man and his games are. This is outright criminal behaviour and god knows how many bought in yesterday at 6 quid+ and are now down almost 20%. I know I was close in the morning after giving the news a quick glance over and before I realised who was behind it...
Just unbelievable that this kind of stuff can happen. And of course its all over shadowed the real good news about download figures...but poor people who bought in have seen a substantial wealth reduction in 24 hours. Appauling.
this story is so so exciting...so much ahead.
my only comment would be that Michael really lacks presentational ability vs. Ben which is a shame...he just doesn't have the charisma and ability to tell how exciting the story...kind of left to investors to inspire themselves over it...
either way...not changing my opinion on this being a potential nasdaq darling in the future. reading the book '100 baggers' today....no doubt that centralnic has the ability over the long term to achieve that status.
The download and user figures released yesterday were rather exceptional....couldn't believe my eyes...I thought January was supposed to be the weakest month of the year? Assuming its the raft of new shows etc coming through.
as we all know....these numbers are really the big driver of Boom and Q4 numbers were much weaker than expected and in line with some months of those numbers not looking encouraging. hats off to the team at boom for securing those new shows and getting those numbers back up....very impressive.
its a shame that true VALUE news was overshadowed by that gang of crooks and bonnier. lets all stay focused on the true fundamentals
Huge fan of boom...think it will do great....
I'm not sure why people have such difficulty understanding this very obvious point around the company being totally fine but the shareholder register and current/ex shareholders shenanigans as a total disaster...
are you really telling me that some bonnier linked outfit 'announcing' an intention to purchase 30% of share capital in advance of doing so is a good thing? what planet could you be on to think of it as a positive that any bonnier linked thing could be good for this company
I mean literally....the idea that people actually thought....oh yeah, this kind outfit are just telling us in advance they want to buy 30% '!!!!!!!!!!' of the entire share capital and are just letting us Pi's know in advance so that them and everyone else can benefit from a continual price rise while we buy. Basically inviting a price rise of 300% if that were really the true case. It's just all so ridiculous. Mental how thick people are. Sorry its harsh but come on
great company over the long run...but the share price reaction today says it all.
everyone got super excited because no one dug deep in the first hour as to who this outfit were....so saw the inevitable 20% plus rise...however as it became clear this was Bonnier related it's pulled substantially back.
no response from company either...says it all. the guy bonnier seems to be willing to play this company to the ground with whatever antics he can come up with. its a dreadful shame.
boom needs to continue to perform ok, get some proper institutional investors (this outfit are most definitely not!!!) and mature a little bit.
what a shambles.
Charlie this is incredibly helpful information....bolsters confidence immensely...not fussed at all if its funds offloading. Large part of investment case is how incentivized the ambitious founder is here.
completely bizzare!!!!!!! third of market cap traded in one day alone and nothing....mental!!!
This is a quiet board for a share that seems so disconnected from fair value.....
Do people have a view on the Volkswagen settlement and if there is any probability it won't come through? Feels very much like a done deal given they were found against last year for the same case that was brought...just feel like time is now dragging on a lot?
Either way, interesting that all broker forecasts don't even account for the settlement and we are still way way off fair value.
No - but this isn't capitalism at work I'm afraid...capitalism is about fair value coming through in the end - and my estimation of fair value is way over 5 quid over a 5-year view with Kape. This is daylight robbery and even worse, I struggle to see how it is stopped. You have Slater investments with 5% (assuming they have held for a long time and may be happy to take the price and move on) and then rest of shareholding is very dispersed with small holdings amongst institutionals...not a conducive to this being rejected.
Agree with all of these comments...yet somehow I convinced myself it was a reasonable corporate structure. Definitely did not see this coming. It's a really really insidious way to treat shareholders who have supported the business.
