Why dont all telecos share infrastructure and all cut costs? Vodafone was about offering better that the others which some people are prepared to pay for and these sorts of people tend to be the higher margin accounts. So there is time for the improvement to kick in to effect the SP. Ok debt will be reduced and cash flow improved but this could be another Verizion. Always difficult doing bizney in India and maybe this might clear the decks a tad more for that other noise rearing deal that keeps being mentioned. driftking27, I'm just a newbie then, Feb 2012. ULVR coming back a tad and Vod up now so maybe that trade is off the table. Markets on a high generally so maybe everything looks pretty much valued. I would have to recheck Diageo but wasnt that just as expensive as ULVR pre bid

Well my thoughts are along the same lines. Vodafone has some embedded value but how can it be extracted. Europe was having a downer but has started to turn and the UK suffers from lack of quad play. Add India and you can see the headwinds. Of course it depends on what or how any deal could be done, I doubt it will be a nice big cash offer. Merger with a swap for some Liberty Shares and maybe a few quid on the side or some more joint ventures? UK? Yes there could be lots of potential savings hence more value but that banana is still in the jar. Of course sorting some or any of the issues will give more time for VC to start pulling more rabbits out of hats instead of taking his cap in hand to others. Suspect this has stirred the SP a tad

I wondered if Indy Ref 2 north of the wall was playing on the share price. More unknowns again in the fire add that to Brexit and a merger there is quite a bit of noise to be knocking SL. At least they have a spare boss so can put one on both side of any new boarders and cover all bases or do we need a third? 1. Ununited Kingdom. 2. Indy Scotland. 3. Europe. Maybe 2 and 3 might be covered together if SNP plans work out. Does this mean SL have been ahead of the curve all this time? One can only hope that any triggering, Braveheart cries or any mention of medium to hard Brexit allows more opportunities to reinvest any divis back into SL for a bigger yield whilst SL adapt and prosper to however it pans out. ULVR on the watchlist for a sell or what ever you want to call it. Will HK be back? Not sure but dont know where they will dream up more value in ULVR if it continues independently Only trouble is what to do with the cash. Something with a higher divi maybe Vod/sse but nothing looks cheapish but might be less overvalued. or just sit on my hands and wait for ULVR to grow into its bigger boots

movingonup, inflation is already on the rise, as for fear, I think the fear was for deflation and yes I think interest rates will rise slowly from here. Make home grown cheaper!
