My concern now, is that the board will change their winning tack and look for quick wins that will lower the value overall. This might be good for me cos I want the SP down to buy more but what will I be buying into? Come on guys you should be finding value for us everyday, bid or no bid, so stop the quick fixes and go for long term value. Not sure how to stop them bidding £50 or going hostile without Uncle Warren lets hope it becomes a hot potato. I suspect I might be alone with my views and others will be wishing them well and putting the yanks and brazilians on the Christmas card list

City AM comments on the comments about the payment "scandal" ..... or was it more of a mistake that no one noticed including the thousands of employees. I suspect most were nonplussed about the whole thing anyway. OK maybe I'm biased, being a shareholder but debs didnt come across as the big bad wolf, just the biggest name for the media, who of course put everything into context. Vodafone now on or above 200. Normally nice to see round numbers but some have me concerned. LLoy was on 66.6 and HSBA 666. Anybody else seeing signs of the devil or is it just bank shares. Glen closer to 666 than Vodafone today! I wonder who will get there first?

I suspect that brokers and people, looking only as far as the end of their nose, see its all bad headlines and this/next year forecast is along the same lines with little improvement. Then they look a little further ahead and notice things like fcf is going to be ten time better and have second thoughts.

Good job they threw in loads of bad news before doing the buy back, would want them overpaying to buy their shares.

Not sure I like the proposed changes to the dividend policy.

A years divi will cover that shortfall, then some time and patience might see that divi rise so you get a running yield of 7% anyway. Nice problems to have. Lets hope Mr Bucher has a good plan going forward.

I think they will have done ok, Brexit is a concern but nothing has happened yet and it might be another year or so before this might get affected. I suppose it will react to the new environment if and when it changes. For me, its the growing divi year on year which I like, I wish more of my shares "plodded" like this one. OK the SP has its ups n downs but add on the dips and you shouldn't go too far wrong. Could be right that its rising because of this weeks announcements and likely to fall back slightly post events. Will be happy if that divi gets bumped again.

Well the talks had been going on for nearly two weeks, now that it was in the public domain all the problems were coming out of the woodwork and ULVR were also saying no and as I said earlier Uncle Warren does not like hostile. I'm not sure who else would even think of buying, if anything I suspect it will be ULVR looking for smaller fish. Even if the ULVR board were open to a deal I suspect past history and issues would have prevented this anyway.

Like a broken clock twice a day! It could be a bit catch 22 also because analysts are predicting 50p, people hold off waiting for the drop, which makes the SP drop and then the analysts say "told you!" Positive start to the week and debs following the trend.

I considered it more over the weekend, ...... wished they hadn't even considered it to begin with. Might be best looking at other shares that dollar cash rich, low interest rate environment companies might like to buy over here. Maybe with easier terms to contend with than ULVR's cloggie issues. All this has done is increased costs to buy more as I wasn't selling even at higher SP.

I dont think that the cost savings and synergies would be there as with the KH deal.

Option 2 for me. Bag the divi for the pot and hope for some bad news or markets to take a temporary hit on the SP. Although I expect that things will look OK and the yield wont be hitting 7% As this keeps rising might have to watch PF % holdings. With the divi approx 17p might allow more time as it should drop by this and there might be less pressure with the big divi no longer on the table. HSBA might also be trying to "manage" the news too. Still nice problems to have. So one eye on this and another looking for something else just in case.

Watched the documentary, Becoming Warren Buffett 2017 (HBO Documentary Films) over the weekend and it gives an insight into his thinking. I would not be surprised if he was behind the reason that the deal fell through. Yes I'm sure there will be another market downturn, we just dont know when. I suppose its a game of waiting to see what pans out. Lots of banks/financials reporting this week so might have to pick which ones to catch up on. Just had a skeg at Debs calendar to see when the next update is due but 2017 is empty, they dont seem to keep it updated much. Hopefully they can employ someone on minimum wage to type some dates and info onto the investor relations page. Good luck with your targets, one of mine, ULVR, might get a tad cheaper today now Warren is walking away all friendly like. I suspect it will still be expensive and will have some residual added on to the price. Might have to re-evaluate it. I wonder what other things might be on their radar and what will they do with all those dollars. Can see them buying in here even with FX rates.
