Is that on your own wish list? There was no mention or even hint of a special dividend. Where do you think they will get the dosh for that? I wish it were true, I would happily swap the buyback for a special divi although my long term share performance bonus isnt related to EPS. Of course a review of the remuneration will factor that in wont it. Still one can only dream and hope that Graeme David Pitkethly, was a really good fund manager before becoming CFO here. Maybe they will change their minds and find something better to buy instead that is more than the planned 1-3 Bn

You dont have to do it today you could wait until the summer and hope that the SP falls further and squeeze a few extra in unless your going to be buying more anyway and use up the allowance on even more, here or elsewhere.

If all these things from the "review" were good things to do, why wasn't being implemented to begin with? They say they were over cautious, not a bad thing but maybe that is the reason why I wanted some in the first place. So they are going to make their products more expensive, increase debt and sell some of their bread n butter stuff (see what I did there) It might work but as any sailor knows you can only point too high for a short term without slowing down or stalling and having to tack. Some cost cutting, which should always be on the agenda anyway. I might prefer the 5Bn returned in cash to reinvest somewhere else rather that over paying for a high priced share. I might be ok with buybacks if the SP was on a low or the company significantly undervalued but dont think that is the case here. I think I will continue to hold and collect the divi's and look to add on any dips, which shouldn't happen if the plan comes together.

Not sure about the review, I have mixed feelings, a buy back on an expensive share might just make it more expensive and is it a good use of our money? I do like the bump in divi, based on confidence? The proof will be in the pudding but it was working before but is this a step backwards and over reaction to the bid

The art to a good paint job is preparation and using quality products. Brexit cant happen until A50 is triggered which only happened a few days ago then a couple of years of jaw jaw. I suspect it will be some smaller issues that bite us in the bum. No matter, companies will adapt quicker than governments will to any new landscape and will look to exploit opportunities as they arise. I think he sold some hoping to get back in cheaper. He has bought some LLOY so you might find him "ramping" over there or having his Friday nite rant. Funny how you miss those. Seems to be subsiding slightly or is it just following the market. Still not sure what to do with this, take the money and run, add more if it falls a tad or just sit on my hands. Thats the problem being a fund manager, people expect you to stick it in shares, even if the market is on a high. Can't really stick it in the bank and say I'm gonna wait for better returns later like we can. To be fair Woody has hit the buffers with Next, Capita and a few of his smallies but all that money that keeps pouring in will allow him to average down and wait for the shares to turn. Now if only I had limitless pockets. Tom78, is there not some small print that says shares might go down and future performance .......! Guess you will have to have patience until it comes good.

I normally shy away from Fool articles because tomorrow there will be another one saying the opposite. Has RR. turned a corner? Its well on its way if it hasn't already. As for waiting for a better entry point remember markets can remain irrational longer than you can stay solvent! I was waiting for the rest of "How to make £1 million from shares..." Will it say, First start off with £10 million ........

arsenal58, I did say "awakening my interest" but I'm still grumbling atm. Not sure I want to average up only for the board to consider their pockets before mine. Progress at the bottom end of expectations so its only the dividend that is the bright spot. Hopefully it will get a tad lower and then my interest might be fully awake although it looks like you might get above water with your dealing. I might wait until summer to top up the ISA, markets might have fallen back a bit by then but its difficult to find great value just now without taking too much risk. There will be more chances, even if its somewhere else. As for mates rates, sometimes they are not as friendly as they first seem. You pays your money, you take a chance!
