questioner, yes you are missing something. (sarcastically I would say a math lesson!) The rebased divi is now 7.5p divide that by the SP and x100 to get percentage yield annually 7.5/165*100 = 4.54r% percent or 4.55% to two decimal places using your figures.

" Debt higher than expected" Poker, I was quoting the company. They "planned" to keep the divi and did "expect" debt to rise before falling back. So something did not go quite to plan. Maybe they were expecting more customers or didn't take into account adaptation of competitors or maybe I just missed something that caused the extra. Anyway it about the forward outlook now, I'm happy with some things they are doing but would prefer they focus on overall return not just growth, for that sake of growth. I suppose they need to walk before they start running again.

Gerry and others.. how do you find HL as a self select platform? I no longer use HL, the main reason being costs. I liked the website and telephone support but felt lied to over a promise on costs that never materialised. they did make me an offer when I applied to move away but it was too little too late and had to fight them over moving costs which I also won. Still probably a better investment than broker, for me anyway. Now mainly using iii and Iweb, both "low cost" no real issues but you dont get the instant speak to a person telephone support but then again I have never needed it. iii website better IMV £80 a year with x2 free qtr trades but Iweb cheaper to trade at a fiver a pop. They did charge £250 to join but its been brought back to a one off £25 There are others and you have to pick one that fits your own style and size of investing. there are a few articles discussing the merits of each worth a read.

Buying now only gets you approx 4.5% for the future based on 5p + 2,5p. HL have been down a couple of times during busy trading but I suppose other might be the same. I did swap because of costs not the service. I think trading was "stuck" slightly at the off trying to find the right price as I struggled to get in on the off

Can I refer you to my previous answer! Little in the way of positive news, AGM and Turkish jets JV seem to be it atm. I doubt that this is enough. Markets on the up too but the rise in tide is too low for this climb. Is it just that the turnaround combined with lack of negative news now is beginning to take hold and the future fcf figures look good so its a case of getting on the bandwagon before its too late. I also noted the large rise in the daily SP and initially put it down to something coming out of the AGM, although any real news should have been in an RNS. Another movement factor is also broker notes and as pointed out there were a couple of positive ones issued but the movement seemed high even so. It did rise steadily over the day rather than one big jump. I dont know if shorters or someone giving a heads up on building a position was partly to play or a mix of the lot with added sentiment over political outcome here and across the water. So to recap .......... I haven't got a clue!

I dont tend to look that closely in that small detail, maybe the traders have better solutions. I have said I would look to add more at 180 but 180.1 would put me off and might even undercook it if I thought 181 was there for the taking and might disappear. I suppose limit orders take out that dithering but can have their own issues. After all a really bad update might drag the SP down but 180 might then be overpaying!

Might be short term pain for longer term gain. At least there is the divi atm to help. The trend has been poor though but will it get worse. Still its at yearly lows, high divi and cash generative but it depends on your time frame and reasons for buying.

Seemed quite positive notwithstanding all the issues. Many metrics were improving and I like the idea of reduced debt, increased ROCE (albet still poor) better EPS etc In fact they are ahead of many targets but with some work still to do. More stores closed but they are planning to open a few next year and I like the fact they have bought more freeholds thereby reducing leases. Hopefully that should translate into a slight bump in the divi down the line as this snowball gathers pace It not just shareholders benefiting, pay rates improving for the workers and corporation tax increased for the tax payers.
