I would be interested which places they would like to invest could do with some super tinternet having lived in various places that had either slow or no internet. Satellite and microwave worked ish but a cow rubbing up a tree and knocking the relay dish stopping you buy your shares aint much use.

They could cut the divi all together, and some would say this makes sense under current circumstances but they came out with the "sending a message to shareholders" guff Still if they ever do get back to 7.5p divi the yield will look good, not great for high paying tax billionaires. Now who has the biggest sway, PI's with ISA's or the above? Maybe if you want high yield you should look elsewhere and could even get it today rather than wait for jam tomorrow maybe! SP on the up, great investment or just down to the market

Well if you cant stand the fire ..........! Yes it can be hard to watch, so dont. Ideally you are looking at the longer term, years of divis rather than a downward blip that probably wont even show on the charts in 10 years time. Sometimes its best to pick something and walk away and let it do its thing. The market being closed is a double edged sword, you cant buy more cheaper either. I often do sailing trips and then look back at what I have missed whilst at sea. Its the opportunities like this that I would miss most and like the waves the divis should come rolling in. On a positive note for you Vod up a tad or for me less chance of buying more

Bootsox, I have just read the same article. I was going to go back and check the amounts the board were allowed to do such as buybacks and the like but maybe this has saved me the trouble. "blatant disregard" of City guidelines" does have a get out as its guidelines not rules and they say the situation demanded it. Yes the PI's generally suffer and the biggest investors (fat cats! or just fund managers) do seem to do quite well. I dont know a better system, maybe rights to the deal that can be traded so if you dont have funds or dont want to invest current share holders can sell the rights to others. Probably too slow and not cost effective in the boards view. I doubt much will come of it though, a smack on the wrist maybe but a lost less than the smack in the mouth we all received. Well Vod held �2 so maybe stronger than imagined, yes there are lots of negatives around and spectrum costs are my worry really as they are classed as exceptionals yet happen so frequently so why not cost average then out? Well the fundamentals look a lot stronger than they did during project spring so the divi should be ok, well for a while longer anyway. Then again TALK paid its divi and is now doing a placing to recapture less than they paid out over the two previous years, I have added there so maybe I have wasted more money that might have been better used here On the positive, there may be deals to be done and there is that juicy banana waiting to be taken out of the jar somehow. The towers sale might also bring in a few billion but right now the market is looking dark bit its always darkest before dawn! As for shell, I might wait until ISA season to start and maybe a dip in the poo and if you could time it with a market like this should do well. That day in Cardiff when Shell was hitting 13's and I didnt buy is looking like an expensive trip now, Oh for hindsight!

Its just one of many, I'm sure they will be scampering to claw back all those bonuses too. Still they can only cut another 2.5p off the divi now!

Dan I dont think I would be adding with the house to pay off soon, why not pay some off now and save a tad on interest. You should also use that isa money too. I wouldn't risk it on the market with such a short timescale. If you had a longer timescale maybe and use the divis to pay it off over 20 years or so! Once the house is paid off you will still have the same isa allowance and less outgoings to take more risk but I'm sure you know your situation much better than whats on this bb. I dont think the general financial advice would be to invest your mortgage money in shares to pay off your mortgage in such a small time frame but hopefully you know your own situation and are happy with the outlook. I dont know your interest rate but is it less than Vodafone's yield? I might be tempted to move it into interest only, if they still do them, and use the divi's to pay down the mortgage if time allows. �30k is not small change to be a forced seller at the wrong time. "Sell in May" might have to be your motto. Shares over the pond down so I expect we will have a down market start Monday morning. I suppose the media might whip up the Liberty story but the wind could just as easily turn in the other direction if it turns out to be just that. Pity we could have done with the SP falling with the correction a bit more, adding the income and then the story!
