Results seemed positive and better than expected notwithstanding the known issues. SP fell although I put that down to VC leaving. After all the speculation on what might happen on these boards we now have some meat on the bones. Again there are risks with the implementation and execution but this on the face of it looks like it could be a good deal for Vodafone. Divi cover and fcf increased with debt at the top of the range and mixed to try and please everybody. Divi increased again by another 2% and although I had decided not to purchase much until after the summer I have added here this morning just under 200. This fits with my PF balance, increases my divi income and we are now dealing with more known's than unknowns and I doubt the new man will kitchen sink!. Just got to catch up on some more shares that have reported recently. Still they could drop more, we have had a good run on the upside for shares generally so a couple of down weeks are due. Add to an ex divi date and we might get even more lucky

Google Finance has a habit of reporting unrealistic SP at the end of the day. I just has a quick look after looking at my PF spreadsheet and not noticed the Vod SP drop. A quick check on a couple of other sites shows this to be another googleism. Pity, I thought it might be top up time! Oh well, might get some meat on the bones of the Liberty talks soon now will they wait until after both report, in a report or catch it early before it leaks?

The times article might be the old one I mentioned and as you have looked without success it might be inaccurate postings on the other board? I think its forced divi cuts that knock the SP not the scenario you mention. Many say paying a divi out is waste and its better invested providing the return is better. Voda is known as a divi provider so many would move on if that changed. I like a divi meesen! Do you have a SP in mind to sell and pay that mortgage? Your not just doing on the due date are you? Summer here today make the most of it, its likely to snow next week!

Dont knock someone for going outside their comfort zone and investigating parts of their investment. Whilst its not good news, guidance stays the same but any out performance will now be tempered. I did bother to check further on what the extra checks involved. Maybe you can give highlights if you do indeed know. Sadly another unconstrained engine failure over in the states and a passenger killed after partially exiting through a damaged window. Better for RR to have less discretionary spend than an investigation like this on a CFM engine.

Anyone else noticed that Vodafone are digging into Talks territory in the cheaper end of the market and offering more for less. Not so good for my Talk shares!?

On a quick skeg, fcf of 5Bn should cover 4Bn divi and leave a Bn for spectrum. Spring also finished now and increases in subscribers should up the fcf to 6Bn or so next year. Ive noticed Vod is more competitive in the UK too, not so good for my Talk shares maybe

Well he still has access to them unless hes getting divorced. Maybe it a tax dodge.

char, a link to the article would be helpful and then you could asses the writer of the article to see if they have merit or its just an ill informed piece. Its not the first time they have printed concerns about divi cuts, see 7th May 16 "Safe haven Vodafone among FTSE 100 companies at risk of dividend cuts" It was also their "Share of the Week: Vodafone" 18 Nov 17! Yes spectrum will cost but it is a lot less than the billions quoted in the past as I alluded too on a post recently. My concern is that it is not classed as part of the daily runnings but one off's even if they are regular one off's What was your view on the article?

Having recently acquired some in an ISA I suspect it might be your particular broker with an issue. My issue is the divi was lower than expected but suspect its down to tax which might get reclaimed and added later as I have has this sort of issue previously. Tell em your a pro

Mike, is that calendar or trading days? Just to put it into my diary! I put mine into the pot and invest in whatever is on offer when I want to buy or to balance the PF. Ideally when the market is down and the SP well below the 200 day avg. Like earlier in the year when it was in the 1250's Saying that I didnt buy at 1250 as I added in the previous month. Still these are showing a profit and a healthy running yield which has dropped its concerns a tad after pulling out of the big deal. Take whats on offer or wait for better, hindsight is great. Sell in May? or is that buy in the summer. I suspect this is my plan unless my hand gets forced by events and there are always events. I see the divi as selling a bit (at a higher price than I bought) and will look to reinvest when its cheaper. Till then I will keep selling bits four times a year. Back in a fortnight

I was put off debs by the change in direction and increasing debt although I didn't sell up (mistake) I suppose I have to do something one way or another and Magic Mike just adds to the confusion. Maybe I will be proved wrong and the update will be positive and everyone will start shopping there. So sell, hold or double up? I need some hindsight today!

Strangely, I have just voted against VC on his Unilever position! Somehow I don't see him holding back excessive pay over there when, like I said, is paid handsomely himself. Still this creeps higher and higher and the divi gets closer and closer oh and the yield gets smaller and smaller.

char, we pay VC handsomely to do the worrying for us. Like any company it could struggle for various reasons some of which it can't do anything about. VC has to concentrate on the ones in his bailiwick. A deal may never happen so you have to continue with your own plan until something better comes along. So far offers have not been better. I'm sure VC knows about babies and bathwater. Till then we have a globally diversified company with better fcf metrics for some time and a product that people want. Its not just about the share price, there are personal circumstances too. PF balance, do I need/want more, other investments or the need for cash. For me its about having a slightly higher divi ...... if the FX allows. That can be done by an increasing divi or by adding more of the same or more of summat else.

I can resist everything except temptation as Oscar Wilde would say. Yes I was temped, although not just here. I had divis in the isa pot to use too but I bought some at 193 last year so was hoping I could better that but alas not to be ...... yet! Its always a dilemma, take what is on offer or wait for something better. We still have Trump, Brexit and the Russians and hindsight might say I was wrong but its an ever changing picture.

appleby. I have had a quick skeg at NRR previously when scouting for something new. Divi not covered and relatively high unoccupied lets. I haven't heard about the takeover although not really been looking. Still MRW not doing too bad as a property play even if they have been reducing over the last couple of years. If Bernstein's are correct, we might have REIT type income in a couple of years.

The generous allowance might mean that for many there is no need to rush to fill up at year end or dive in at kick off. Sitting on hands atm waiting for a big swing one way or the other. Might have to wait until the summer
