I read recently that cash usage of late had actually gone up as people were drawing money out to help with their budgeting instead of using their credit/debit cards at will.

I'm a big fan of cash continuing as a means of payment. I like to tip with cash so the right people I want to receive it actually receive it, older people do not like using cards in the main and the governments will have complete visibility over what you spend your money on if we go to a cashless society.

Let's hope not. The 10 year UK gilt yield was less than 1% a few months ago. It's now 2.65% and climbing. Madness has prevailed for too long now. A readjustment has been long overdue.....

Yup. I am truly of the belief that most of those on benefits are capable of doing some sort of job. It's been made too easy for a lot of people not to work.

I agree Theosus. The renewable energy companies are absolutely coining it in at present as they are producing electricity at a fraction of the cost that the electricity produced from gas is costing. I would think that Truss will be looking at this.

The PM is pretty powerless to do anything at present. This leadership election has gone on far too long in my opinion. It should have been no more than 2 weeks of hustings etc after it was narrowed down to the last 2. I would think only a small percentage haven't voted yet and as such, it is a waste of time delaying things further.

That said, I do grow weary of all these lefties blaming Brexit and the Tories for the state of the energy market. The Bank of England needs to shoulder a large proportion of the blame for their tardiness in addressing inflation earlier and it is still the summer so there is time for the new PM to sort things out energy wise before the winter bills start arriving later in the year.

Looking at that list of share predictions, they were predicated on a war not being started in March which is having the effect of sending economies worldwide into recession.

The usual suspects on here from the SNP and Labour of course, are blind to that fact and choose to aim their fire at the current government here whilst all around other countries are burning. Par for the course really and suits their narrow-minded agenda.
