What would you do ? Saddle people with bills they can't pay and let businesses go to the wall creating mass unemployment ? It's all very well sniping at what the government is doing but what's your plan ?

As it is, people are still going to have energy bills more or less double what they were last year even with the government assistance. What's your plan ? Let's hear it......

Truss as I see it has no option. If she imposes a windfall tax on the energy companies, they will not be in a position to increase investment in expansion.

Over 60% of our electricity is still produced from gas. Until nuclear, solar, wind, bio etc etc reduces our reliance on gas for electricity, we are slave to wholesale prices which are being manipulated by Putin. The short/medium term fix is to expand North Sea exploration and frack to increase our own gas reserves.

I'm contemplating buying these at this price. Surely they will become a takeover target at some point ?

A lot can change I guess. If Putin ends his obscene war in Ukraine, energy costs could fall quickly making the freeze unnecessary. One thing is for sure, we need to become energy self-sufficient and Truss is right to grant new drilling licences in the North Sea and end the fracking ban. Until nuclear and renewables are expanded sufficiently to take over from carbon fuels, all energy forms need to be looked at to deal with the current situation.

The energy price freeze is going to reduce inflation by several percentage points. For that reason, I think it will be a 0.5% rise instead of 0.75%. We shall see……
