Lloyds is seen as a bell weather for the UK economy as most of its assets are UK based now. I would imagine the share is fairly static due to predictions on the UK economy.

My own gut feeling on the buyback is MS have supported the share in the low 40s and done most of their buying around the 41/42p mark. It has slowly risen since then and if it drops back again to that level they will begin buying in earnest again. If it stays around here or inches higher, at some point they will have to bite the bullet and buy at higher prices than the current average. But I'm sure they will spend the £2bn before the year is out whatever happens.

3/4 of the money has been spent so far and approx 1/3 of the year remains. I'm sure they will get through the £2bn by the end of December.

Does it really matter when the shares are bought back ? As long as the buyback is complete by Dec 31st. Maybe Morgan Stanley is waiting for weakness before buying large numbers of shares again. Chill out whybother.....

Centrica has struck a 15-year deal worth £7bn to buy gas from the US as part of efforts to bolster long-term energy security as Russia restricts supplies.

The FTSE 100 company, which owns household energy supplier British Gas, is set to buy one million tonnes per year of liquified natural gas (LNG) from US supplier Delfin Midstream.

Shipments are expected to start in 2026 by which time Delfin will have built a new LNG terminal off the coast of Louisiana, the first floating LNG export facility in the US.

Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng said the deal would provide crucial gas supplies “from reliable sources - like our friends in the United States - for many years to come”.

The UK and Europe are scrambling to secure international gas supplies after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine sent energy markets into turmoil. Wholesale gas prices have soared in the wake of the conflict as Russia has restricted exports.

The majority of Scots do not want to leave the UK. The referendum was a once in a generation vote. I'm sure if there had been a vote for independence in 2014, the rest of the UK would have respected the wishes of the Scottish electorate and wished them good luck. The EU could have picked up the tab instead of us. Time you SNP lot got over the referendum and moved on....

Another sound set of results with a great dividend yield. Always wonder why these trade in such a narrow band. Happy to hold and added some more in the 230s recently.

The only trouble with gold at the moment is that the US$ is going from strength to strength and gold generally is inversely proportional to the US$. Sleepy Joe's Inflation Reduction bill is questionable and may not quell inflation which may lead to the Fed having to raise interest rates further than predicted thereby strengthening the $ further. Who knows eh ?
