Mountainous It released 22nd in US.
Most stuff being totally swallowed by Spiderman just now is no great surprise.
The Kingsman I think has lost some of its appeal since first movie.
Matrix as well documented is 20years after a couple of weak sequels (it was also day and date release, last of an understandable experiment by WB).
Westside Story victim of when it released its target audience is one of those not yet back in such strong numbers.

That would be great mountainous, and believe me I as much as/more than anyone would absolutely love that to transpire to be the case.
However at maybe c. 75% comparative box office for the quarter, even with cost savings and increased concessionary spend I think it would be a stretch.
We only get half/year reports so will never truly know. However it will swing Q3 losses a lot if proves to be the case :-)

Certainly had higher quality derampers in our past .

The combination just now makes for a low share price pretty easy. However, even with an unresolved appeal (if that's how it turns out) by second half next year I would expect some more favourable conditions.
Covid - ever less of a threat and hopefully fading from front page news daily.
Clear pattern of theatrical only releases.
First half recording strong profits (the first for two years). These re-proving the business model and that cinema does indeed have a strong future (one that if needed lenders will be happy to back).
Without at least a half year of strong profits I agree it is difficult for the share price to fly (other factors could also stimulate SP though. I would think anything that shows a significantly improved/improving set of finances would help, buyer, sale of some assets though that would mean a smaller business, well timed US float).

2022 - Below is just 15 films due in the year that I fully expect between them alone will take more than the entire 2021 box office.

Navigating the CP appeal is (I feel) now our main obstacle before a very very encouraging year or so ahead.

December a month of two halfs and one film.
First half of month North America box office done c. $150/160m
Here we are c. 10 days later and months b.o. stands at c. $743m (includes estimates last few days).
Meanwhile Spiderman alone stands at $467m and counting.

This year b.o. stands at c. $4.3bn.
The top 10 films contributing c. 46% of this.
Top 5 = 29.4% of that total
Top 3 = 21.1%
And Spiderman alone accounts for some 10.9% (and will climb).

Setting aside our personal investments both in financial and emotional terms in Cineworld.
I don't think either of those assertions by the judge are too hard to come to.
It did seem very much that Cineworld wanted out of the deal (rightly so given the changing world at the time).
Anyone that went or listened to outside the bubble of the UK in early March (maybe even before) could also have got reasonable sense where this was going (ok maybe not a two year plus pandemic, but likely world pandemic).
That's not to say I think ALL actions in FULL by Cineplex were ONLY due to pandemic.

Let's hope Cineworld can at a minimum drag appeal process out long enough to find a financial solution.

PW I did watch the case and with a C$1.24bn ruling "clearly" it wasn't in our favour.

Had I said it was a certain CP win all through case I would have been hounded from this board like our rampy sorts do with others that date have another view.
I did through case state I can see the case both sides are making and it would come down to what legal definitions were. These I did not know.
Stated I am not a lawyer/judge so wouldn't pretend to know how the case would pan out
Unlike some that moved from being epidemiologists to contract law gurus.

Most of us are down on our investment here, does no good getting all angry with others on board.

LPD is the instigator of "beef" when it comes to himself and me or for that matter some others he has targeted in this board.

From watching much of the trial and the fact we have reached this position I was very much of the understanding Cineworld had NOT included the termination fee element in agreement.
I would be astounded (very happily) to find out we have gone through this court case, been asked to pay C$1.24bn to find out there was a break fee included and able to be actioned all this time.
