Let's hope we start seeing significantly more movies released on regular basis again in 2022.
Seems one of the main obstacles left for the industry full recovery.

Number of as yet untitled big studio releases also (not to say all $1bn movies, but many/most I would expect to make serious box office).

There will easily be a handful (maybe 2 handfuls) of $1bn+ movies this year.
Look at previous performers and eagerly awaited we have (to name a few)

A toy story linked movie in: Lightyear
Black Panther 2
Jurassic (whatever it is)
Avatar
Dr Strange
Top Gun
Mission Impossible
Batman
Thor
Morbius

There are others and will likely be some we are not fully aware of yet.

As a side note, I do think January will be a weak month for cinema as there is almost no new content of note being released this month.
Thankfully it's not a one month business so let's measure meaningful periods (say quarters/half/yearly).

Agree we need/want more than tentpole movies and we will get them (maybe less than previously).
Studios such as Disney will continue to make product for various outlets though and some middle ground product they may switch their plans for release.
I only see that and other such articles as waste product though.
It feeds the media hysteria and trolls on BB's such as this one.
That movie going straight to streaming certainly doesn't concern me in the slightest.

Hilarious non event story gets usual from the desperate that have or pretend to have no understanding of the movie and cinema business.
More movies miss cinematic than do, always has been always will be.
Give me a shout when likes of Spiderman, Black Panther, FF, Bond, Top Gun, John Wick, Avatar, LOTR go straight to home entertainment.

THE biggest box office movie of all time according to you was rubbish and people soon knew this once they had watched it.
They went on hype!
That "could" hold value as a statement if it went on to make few hundred million at box office and audiences dried up after friends, family, randoms come out first few days showings and aired the view you have just made up.

It's like those that come on here once in a while and go on about Marvel is rubbish, or oh no not another Fast Furious film, Mission Impossible etc etc.
Regardless of what you or other individuals think here or elsewhere it is there in black and white these are THE movies people go and see and make the serious $$.

I would stake all I possibly could that Avatar 2 and those after or along with a good few movies in 2022 will make global $1bn +.

That is something I am far more certain off than SP movements of this or any other stock.

If history repeats itself we will see as GME is up c. 30% pre market we will note this has feck all relevance to Cineworld (or business).

However I "think" that company was "going to be set up" for when the deal was essentially through. We never got that far so not sure if it is a registered subsidiary as we speak.

I really enjoyed Belfast and would recommend to others when it has its full release.
Was also taken by audience numbers at my local.
Many of the unlimited screenings since re opening have been well down on pre covid times. Today was certainly one of the bigger turn outs.
SP rise and strong attendance at local cinema added to a dry day in Jockland is a good day indeed

RS, I questioned this when you first posted a d I still would be beyond amazed of its a dome deal Cine max costs are 28m.
For one it would surely have come up during the case in Canada and the vast majority of the proceedings need not have happened (at least all elements regards claims for $bns.
I dont recall one single mention of it during lengthy proceedings.

2. There was absolutely nothing in Cineworld release after case that could so easily have quashed the crash instantly in SP.
3. Nothing from media on it.
4. Nothing from Cineworlds or any other legal teams.

Don't know the full detail of termination clause (if indeed it was included in final agreement). If it was indeed there, then is it a case it can't be used without terminating for a set of specified acceptable reasons!? That is not "buyer's remorse" as has been claimed/found ultimately!?
