Without going industry by industry I would say this is just not the case at all.

Time will tell, but almost every area I can think of has more than 3 in the field and I would be confident to say they are not all racking up debts.

Ultimately my belief is it matters not as 1, 3 or 300 streamers cinema will continue to operate alongside.

It has been said by Mooky and others in the industry. It has been covered in reports, it has been discussed here .
Those that enjoy movies enjoy movies and watch them when and where they can get them.

Those viewing streaming services (especially younger) ALSO enjoy cinema.

I would question this. There are HUNDREDS, if not thousands of media channels over the world that survive.

There is more than 3 Cinema operators.
The list goes on of more than 3 in a market surviving and even doing very well.

1 or 1000 streamers I see no difference (of note) to cinema business.

The US figures are readily available for all and yes January has been sh. 1t.
We know the reasons, move on lets measure by end quarter, then half. Quarter on quarter business has recovered since reopenings.

The company does not require to pay all its debts right now.
It "may" even NEVER be debt free (depending on economy and prevailing rates at the time I hope it is never debt free.) So long as the company uses the funds from debt to improve the business, be that growth or estate improvements.

We should expect company to look to pay down/refinance most recent and expensive debt and also to pay down or extend/refinance debts due soonest.

Big movies slate looks good and is encouraging for company and industry.

I would say, without further clarity of a prolonged period that we do want to be seeing some moves to increased numbers of release. So far that lack of depth is something of a concern.

Yes Hexham, the industry (and likely Cineworld) have not so far consistently reached/passed that base case level. Achieved (pretty much) October and December, November was a fail.

January will be well short, but I assume the company want to measure in more than one month periods as we all know One movie can make all the difference e.g. Bond in October, Spiderman December.

I think FAR too much has gone into the 90% case and talk of what not hitting it means.

By the company's own admission they did not recently yet know how much effect their coat savings has made (and they have made more by cutting more poor locations and added more strong locations.
Box office is one line of revenues
Revenues is one line of profit and loss.

Few weeks we have the FY accounts which will lay bare a clearer picture and each month we can refer back to Box Office Mojo for industry Bix office to give us a reasonable idea of progression.
It has so far given decent insight to what to expect from companies own stats.

It was one of a number of projections the business prepared some time back and was for them to achieve by end last year (which basically they did!!!)
The company, not a random BB poster or news source of unknown substance stated they were cashflow POSITIVE at most recent update.

Company achieved covenant waivers and extensions when required under worse circumstances so I personally have no reason to fear them not being able to do so again (should they required).
Quarter on quarter as they opened back up they have progressed.

Let's see March update and then where we are at end Q1 and then Q2 this year.

We seem to have one of those days we get from time to time where there seems a bit of a battle of forces at a particular price point and we get a sidestep day.

Thankfully we are not invested in a one month business.
Like all businesses we require product - for January there was none of note.
Let's look ahead though to see if we have anything that will mean future months will take more than January.

April - Fantastic Beasts, Morbius, Sonic
May- Dr Strange, Top Gun
June - Jurassic World, Lightyear, The Black Phone, Elvis
July - Thor, minions, Black Adam, Bullet Train

There are a number of as yet unnamed big studio releases through year also and we get towards end year with some that might just take a bit money - Black Panther, Aquaman, Avatar (and some others).

I am under no illusions there is still further recovery required, but the picture is NOT represented by selecting the month that has no product of note in isolation.

Cruis, As I understand it no "official" reason has as yet been given for MIP7 latest move.
Other bug films due before it and not moved so I find COVID less and less likely as the reason.

It does look like financial suicide, but it's become one of the prime slots if not THE prime slot of the year in recent times.
I would not be surprised entirely to see Aquaman probably move as year progresses.

Without going back to exercise I did a year ago or going through each of their movements I am guessing they have played the peaks and troughs (possibly even ones they and others have made for themselves).

Bonkers each firm will have their own strategy, just like all on here.
As a collective however there is nothing to suggest a concerted move to close their positions.

For some, why would they frankly.
The case they have made when opening their position has likely not (in their eyes) changed adversely to their strategy.
Some have opened and held, some have traded in and out.

They got in/added at different times, as we all have done.
As some have said they may also hold long (bigger) positions.

There is (I think) a danger at times of exaggerating every small move, be that a short change, a SP rise/fall, box office, trading updates.......

We are sub 40p tells me most of what is important.

Not linking SP of the two companies as all know the difference in last year.
However, what AMC are reported to be doing here is entirely possible to be one of a number of avenues (including the often discussed US listing) Cineworld may be exploring.

Something such as this being disclosed at year end results would be "useful".

We will still no doubt have the usual suspects telling us the shorts are running scared and to expect them all to continue closing on a daily basis.
