That said, I would happily take a regular c.$80m opening weekend movie.

What a dream turn around that would be. The Cineplex claim reduced to little or nothing and a win on claim against insurers.
Possible swing of over £1bn to company finances.

As you very rightly note and what I was pleased with when I first spotted the claim was this was effectively a no lose, only possible win case.
Worst case some further legal team spend.

HNS, The main issue I have with your analysis this morning is that the numbers won't go up in a straight line.
Majority of films that have been released have been the "big" ones.
Yes we need and will hopefully get more volume of movies and overall box office will go up.
I would expect the average per film to reduce however

Just read back this article as missed few points.
This below struck me and very positive showing the investment in business that steers us correct way to being ever more of an experience.
Again another article that is of poor quality I would say though, as I am certain it will not be 1/3 of ALL screens. What I believe should have been said is 1/3 of all SITES. Even that will be very good.

I don't fridge anyone success that works hard for it.
That family have done just that.
As with any company with a strong holding at the top they benefit most.
Shareholders previously benefitted in share price and dividends.
Did the family not give up 1/3 of their holding in order to get us where we are!?
The LTIP benefits us also, or do you not want a c. 550% return from current investment levels?
That family put more into this than any of us, and as such I have ZERO issue with them potentially gaining most.

We did jack all for any reward other than stick a few £ into a company on the stock market.

We can also change investment at any time we like if unhappy with any aspect of the company.

The last thought I have whenever we see an interview with Mooky is that he is too old.
Let's not forget this is the guy that in recent years has been so driven he has turned a small scale business in Eastern Europe into second biggest chain in the world and got close to being number one with aggressive takeovers.

He has also (so far) steered company through biggest worldwide impact (possibly ever) with minimal shareholder dilution.
Stands strong on studios respecting a meaningful cinema window and has more years relationships with all important suppliers than probably anyone else in the movie/cinema business.

He always appears sharp, focused and rather health with all his faculties firmly in place.

It's pretty disrespectful to consider him or others of similar age past it to be honest.

Have seen worse films, but it clearly wont have a huge box office.
It's far from anything spectacular.
Jackass I probably won't even use my unlimited card to go and see.
Thankfully there are 3 releases this coming week I can go see instead.

All reasonable posters keep reporting his abusive posts and in time he will get himself banned.

Mooky certainly always seems to come across with a calm assuredness.
Only time will truly tell if it's BS or not.
We don't after all expect any CEO to talk down their companies position.

Next week sees more releases than we have been seeing so let's hope that can mark next stage in business recovery combined with waining COVID in USA and in general.

Historically nothing suggests it would and this Spiderman has been awaited far more than batman I am sure.

Thepiperson, Why not get yourself an unlimited card. For roughly little more than cost of one ticket you can go all month as many times as you like and get 10% of concessions plus a card that gives you various 2 for 1, discounts of c. 50% for free at many local restaurants .
