Cpig, we have had the "bums on seats" info from Cineworld already. We also get a very good indicator on a daily basis by looking at full market on Box Office Mojo.
It has given very good indicator month on month since return, no reason to feel this would suddenly change.

We are talking different things then, I am day Ng need c. $1.3b in next 5 weeks box office to get the 85% of pre COVID levels (what the business was targeting, well actually less than target as they wanted 90% +).

You are saying c.$800m in next 5 weeks to give TOTAL Q1 $1.5bn and comparing with a COVID hit Q1 which in reality is no good to the business.

Average for Q1 in recent years about $2.4bn
85% needs c. $2bn
So batman, last week Feb and others in March needs c. $1.3bn by my reckoning!?
Q2 onwards (or even March onwards with bit luck) looks hopeful. I think it unlikely Q1 will look great though.
I would have thought company (successful) efforts to expand to end Q2 dissenting shareholders payments would tie in with this.

Realistically how many would a 3hour film that's pretty dark have got anyway?

Cruis is correct in that:
1 We do need more movies on a regular basis.
2 The older generation is a demographic that has been slower to return and as a business you usually dont want to decrease your available market. So YES we do want all age groups/genders to come back as much as possible.

Good investment decisions are not made by only looking at half the coin.

While I believe and hope we will see reasonable recovery over the whole of this year I do think it is rather misleading to compare current year January February to what was a pretty much closed period last year and then come up with anything meaningful.

Decent product and audiences are there. Death on Nile is rather an old past its time rehash.
Saying that, as I have unlimited card I will still go see it .

Marry Me got pretty decent audience of mixed ages for unlimited screening at my local.
Weekend viewing when we have decent product is still strong in my opinion.
During week has for years been weak, unless we have for example a Marvel type release.

We certainly need more volume of releases regular to give people choice.

If you have only one or two releases per week then there is fair chance there is not something large sections enjoy released and that's a week's poor takings.
Will be interested to see how Tom Holland movie does.

Still believe FY 2022 can prove to be fairly strong though.

Couxhman it's pretty long to be fair. All it required was a name, email address and made up mobile number to get access.
Didn't not anything to get excited about in it really.
I think as couple have said the claim is probably a long shot for a win, but we don't have any potential big loss this time.
