Podcast, In fairness while Cine won't run out of cash by May they have said their base case is on opening no later than May. If they open later than May then they "may" require support from their lenders. It's in Cineworld's own RNS.
RE: New Holland not being so bold to average up.
Had they done so yesterday or today at 88p then 10% could have been quickly recovered.
Difference so far with "short squeeze" here and in AMC and GME is they had audience of millions (participants maybe tens or hundreds of thousands PI's) we have a few dozen or maybe generously couple hundred.
Needs FAR wider audience to make the impact (IMHO).

Their short is "mainly" from 24th November actually, with top ups next couple days. So their average could be nearer 62p.
Still down on their investment so far.
Nothing stopping them or other shorts adding at higher prices to try "average" their position.

Latpulldown I realise actual shorts will be/have been more than what we get from such reports, as you say hard to monitor any under 0.5%
My main point stands though that of those that have crossed 0.5 at any point we can track AND today's trade volumes don't allow for New Holland to have closed their 2.84% short nor will (imho) many/any of the +0.5% held shorts have closed. Many in from pre pandemic and another number in from the June £1 level.
If Cineworld and holders here are to benefit from a burning of shorts it's yet to happen (Anyone can check tomorrow if the c. 9.5% we know about has closed)

Athanor reduced short yesterday by 0.1% accounts for today's reduction as they went from 0.55 to 0.45%

Robin, Interestingly just noticed SP gone up from 80.4!? close to show 81.92!? now on Google boogle woogle.

Robin, Not the most detailed info but does show trades after point here.
I would point out to any interested also that today's total trades is c. 4% of shares so New Holland that had/have 2.84% short have NOT closed entire short position.
Also refer back to a previous post I made that with exception of New Holland most (all) companies with significant short position are here from much higher levels than even where we are today.
Shorts yet to be "burnt" all in my opinion (based on data) off course.

Yeh we can't call them all right, so long as we get more right than wrong and yes live to fight another day.
By no means a wealthy person so I really was in too much by any sensible measures here.
Had even used bit bank overdraft lol.

AMC has been $35 in the last c. 4 years so as yet it's not completely mental (95% mental maybe ;-)
I actually worry for the PI in this situation more than anyone else.
Not convinced SP rise will hold longer term so shorters may well close out burnt somewhat here or in last few days and open new shorts at these or higher levels to recover loss if/when it crashed back to a business based validation.
The wall Street boys that pumped it make money.
Those that got in early on hype make money.
The shorts may even ultimately make money.
It's the less experienced or over excited PI that gets in too high on this ride that loses.

Future may well make me look VERY stupid on this statement, but actual fundamentals of pre covid, now or likely short/medium term just don't support the SP for AMC we see.
As always DYOR and try remain calm and not caught with hype or derampers..

Probably like most on here I am good thanks, an increasing SP always helps a bit.
No, didn't add as never saw any drop of note and quickly increased SP.
Was happy with my previous average price for level of risk reward.
Don't at this point in time see the business case different from yesterday or last couple weeks.
So while buying back in early morning would have given quick returns I didn't forsee the level of rise we witnessed and reasonably content with far less exposure now (obviously means far less potential gains).
As exciting as watching the AMC thing is it is little different to crypto currency in these levels of movement as its actual business position hasn't warranted the SP level of move we have witnessed.
It may well retrace a lot and can only hope many are not caught having got in at such high levels.
Clearly had I waited even half a day I "could" have had decent amount more had I still chosen to sell half stake. However 20% gains hadn't been common place previously.
It frees some cash to give me options (one may well be buying back here if we see significant dips at any point, not holding out on that).
Have another poker or two in fire that the released cash now allows me to progress should I chose now.
Less chance of rapid short/medium term return compared to Cine, but a solid return with no volatility and regain a little diversification.

Possible they sold some near the top today, don't think that can be out the question.
c10% drop since may even have bought back in had they sold some to further still reduce their average as they cannily did months back.
Time will tell.
I think it would make them adding further short term less likely.
They and any of us could have bought at 62.5 just 2 days ago.
Business case not altered since then.

AMC couple weeks ago at $2 had been watching and couple here raised its opportunity as a punt.
Many others recently and years ago. There will be many many others in future too of that I am certain.
Serves us no useful purpose to dwell on the "missed opportunities" in life. Instead be co tent with choices we make and keep looking forward, not back :-)

Now an 8 bagger in couple weeks same as AMC here be rather enjoyable if someone can arrange that ;-)

Always easy to say don't do it, but like you say easier to sleep when moving from being over exposed with some profit.
Looks like we have had a tasty morning and my open order won't be getting filled ha ha.

Sammy can't speak for others but a doubling in price from here in space of couple days as AMC has just witnessed I won't mind cashing balance of shares. Then take stock :-)

It wasn't the plan for sure but when I saw a pretty quick rise after also good rise later yesterday something had me suddenly press that button.

By time I logged in when we had a brief large dip late afternoon I missed it.
Got a buy order open that stands for tomorrow.
Will see what movements we see, if I get lucky then I get back in. If we all get lucky, but me a little less now then we enjoy SP rise forevermore :-)

While we are generally all pleased to see any reduction in shorts or does make it less likely that Jangho bought (Monday) as with the Short movement they effectively bought enough for the remaining volume mean anything from Jangho would/will be minimal.
