shaf5, yep, no one checks anything. Drove through had to wear masks, on the way back (after the 18th April) no more masks. Portugal, masks, Spain and France, no masks.
No check points, no questions in hotels, nada!

I should also mention that we travelled through Spain in April, by car and stayed three nights in total, no masks, no checks nothing. So the only place they check are the airports. How stupid is that?

We should hit your break even point this year, but if you can add more to lower your average, I would do it, as it would not take that much based on your holdings.

I can honestly say they are not my taste in people. A nefarious bunch of sheep led by the nose by that Schwab guy. He is not liked here at all by normal people. A meeting of a bunch of scumbag slave-master wannabes. That massive hotel in Davos, now if Putin wanted to ... oh never mind. I'll finish that thought in my head and smile..
When we lived near Zurich a few years back, the amount of helicopters flying to Davos from Zurich every day was ridiculous.

Would add that the management seem incompetent and should have put procedures in place for staff that were loyal to be compensated once things are back to 'normal', things are far from being 'normal' so they could have bought time that way.

It's the 1 day test that is the killer. The rest of the world will accept a 72hr test, but no, the US wants a 1 day before flight, anytime, but 1 day.

It is the main reason people are not wanting to fly to and from the US at the moment. Where we are they are actually doing away with test centres, so fewer and farther away. That makes it really problematic and then the window of refund on cancellation makes it even less worthwhile.

This recession will not be the 'normal' term, I see it lasting longer. There are too many issues weighing against it over 'normal' recessions.

It's the FED and Jerome Powell, creating fear and uncertainty to maintain the USD strength. The US government does not care about equities in the US or globally or other issues, they care only to keep the $ as strong as possible. This keeps their imports low.

The US only cares about the US and it's interests.
Remember when Biden said he would release US oil reserves? The world thought they would see some of this?
Not a single barrel of US oil left US soil to date. Not a single barrel!!
I happen to know someone that deals with import and export of US oil for refineries, they have left Europe out to dry. They want Europe to be dependant on US.
So when the stock market tanks in the US it is designed to be that way without the FED doing anything. The system is so rigged it it unbelievable.

bobbins, we had lockdowns, but they removed the masks early, kids all went to schools expect in May 2020 until July, then they all went back to school as normal, if kids got covid, they stayed home for a week and then back. Masks on public transport and hospitals. Even up until last week the hospitals required masks. The Swiss a very compliant so will do without much encouraging.. for the most part.
But they dropped the ball on the initial start of the vaccine rollout.

Pushbikes are the only things that get stolen, then found abandoned somewhere. Kids as young as 4 walk to kindergarten alone, it is encouraged.

Yes, very safe here. Too safe, you almost forget what the world is like so when we travel we forget and have to tell the kids that, " we are not in Switzerland".
