I have no problem with that, but that 'top rate' should only start at £100k, then 10% for every £50k above that. As in reality £100k in the UK does not take you far because if you are earning £100k, it means you are living and working in a place that costs a lot more just to stand still. Most people earning in excess of £200k are or at least should be throwing money pre-tax into a private pension to lower their tax burden. And lets just cut the pay to the 'Lords', talk about money for nothing, that is the epitome of a golden parachute
