Panderman, it's not only IAG, it's Heathrow Airport, Easyjet, Ryanair, Tui, Swiss Air, Lufthansa. They all collectively were not ready, largely down to their respective governments being limpd**ks about re-opening. Why would any company risk hiring 10'000's of staff to just lay them off again?
What they need to do is make ex-staff exempt from the vetting process, at least most of it.

Sund, the US never gave a stipulation on vaccines, merely testing requirement as such a large US population refused to get the vaccine. Anyway, unless you got a booster late if at all, you have zero immunity for covid via the vaccine, more than likely have it through herd immunity at the moment. The testing is also for US citizens

I personally have resigned to the fact that I will be in this stock for a lot longer than I wanted to be, probably 2024 the way things are looking. I look back now and think I should have just stayed in the property market, at least you cannot lose money (mostly).

M1K3y, agree, time to go all in. Need to put a stop to this p***yfooting around. The world either dies from a nuke or slowly from hunger and cold. Not an easy choice but perhaps hard times needs hard decisions.

As for oil, OPEC are now a little panicked as EU countries are looking to wean them selves off oil and gas, and pressure from BIden is too great. Biden's approval rating is the same as Russia's economy, down the toilet.

So the latest update from WHO states that 2/3 of the worlds population has had or been vaccinated for covid. That means that were are nearing the end stages of the pandemic according to them.

Not sure how this will effect the US policy on entering without testing but one can only hope.
Assuming that the 2/3rd of the worlds population would be the ones that may fly into the US does it really matter if the other 1/3 are not immunised or have the antigen as they are unlikely to fly to the US anytime soon?

The UK government was in a total chaos during 2020-2021, totally out of their depth and proved how useless they were.

The British media likes to put a damper on anything positive and will highlight the smallest issues to the greatest extent. God forbid the British should want to go away for a week or two and forget the troubles of everyday life, partygate/ Ukraine/rising cost/inflation/ lower income/ no savings/ NHS being sold to piecemeal to the yanks, the list is endless.

These staffing issues are at all European airports, but their media report less on it. Swiss Air laid off nearly all their staff during 2020. Pilots were retrained as train drivers etc.
