Quite bizarre , strong results, 2 Broker Buy recs. and still down. What is going on?

Thanks for the info on Peter, which does not explain today's fall. What does the market expect? With figures produced today, are we missing something, otherwise there can be no rhyme or reason. In fact imo the SP should have headed north.

londondan, quite agree. Double digit increases throughout, large Div increase. Quite crazy. Can only assume the going of Terry Leahy is seen as a negative. Even though he is a 1st Class Chairman why this kind of reaction? Does Peter Bamford have history?

M&B, and Whitbread were hit today also, curiously Greene King went the other way. Guess because GK were hammered last week when MARS stayed resilient. Nothing to worry about imo. MARS have recently revised the pricing structure for Motels, No longer Free Breakfast, but they are still very competitive. PremierInns have also revised prices and what many will not notice immediately, the selection, quantity and quality of food.

Following the poor Beer sales announced today, watch out for a reaction Monday am. The whole sector will suffer, however some will fair better than others, which in MARS case will indicate how the market regards our Company.

Trent the trick is not to be too greedy and when a decent profit shows don't think just a bit more and a bit more. rarely works. Remember my son held M&S and set a target of 500 which gave a hansom profit , got to 500 and was tanking so he set his sights higher 600. Got to 597 stopped and has gone back since. He sold in the 400's which was still a profit but a lesson along the way. Would'nt listen to me, but there it is.

With respect, suggest you open a bottle now and keep one until next July and if the same brew it will be surprising if they are the same. Date on bottles is a Legal requirement it does not guarantee a consistent product. However prove me wrong!

Depends on the alcohol strength. Higher the alcohol the longer it keeps. Lower strength can have enzyme issues which can give an off-taste. That's bottles.

Not sure a lower dividend would appeal to most Investors, current or future, unless a day-trader!

Yes, there is no doubt bad weather does decrease beverage consumption especially in Summer. Would suggest winter sales are rather more static. At least Marstons are managing those unpredictable events.

Beers don't keep so well after fermentation and packaging is completed, especially keg another reason micro breweries have taken a hold. Don't believe you are invested here Appleby with your recommendation?

Trent I am not an officionado on beer even though at one time I had a Cider-making business. The 2 beverages do overlap even though some makers on both sides cannot stand the opposition. There are many craft brewers who produce excellent brews and some not so good. In my experience it comes down to a balance between Alcohol strength, hop types and really the Brewers own skill. There are other factors of course,some consider Draft is better than Bottled and far superior to Cans.Other consumers think the opposite...everyone is different. Brewdog have logged into the growing demand for Craft beers with great success. Marstons even though like MAB, cater for the mass market they have and are including Craft Beers. Not sure if they have yet embarked on individual Micro Breweries which serve their own Houses. This may have happened or being considered. There may of course be some logistical problems which may prevent Taverns having their own facility. If not this could well be imo a logical ,move to enhance site,market and consumer penetration. Personally I prefer Marston's Pedegree beer.

Brewdog is a rapidly growing Brewery in Scotland where they specialise in Craft Brewed beers. They already sell through Supermarkets. Maybe Yorkshireman means sell at Marstons Taverns as maybe Guest Beers. The problem is there are hundreds if not thousands of micro/craft Brewers to choose.
