The UK gov published a policy paper relating to the Medical Technology Strategy earlier this month. This covers a wide range of equipment, diagnostics and more that are used by the NHS. Quite a long read with plenty said about engagement between the NHS and industry on what they require . This all counts for nothing if the government then favours a cheap, foreign supplier instead.

Hi Larry, Jason Venn the co-founder of Veon used to be on the LinkedIn page of professor Christopher Rongo (Rutgers University). For some reason it was removed shortly after I mentioned it on this board.

Mehul Vora now of Novacyt completed a lot of research work at Rutgers with Chris Rongo, but there's no indication if they are still collaborating on anything.

Kaeren, strange how the FDA EUA for that lateral flow test came through just after the company involved filed for bankruptcy .

Hi Kaeren, you mentioned Novacyts relationship with Southampton University the other day. Several of the staff have developed a biosensor platform for the rapid screening of bacteria in patient samples. They have formed a spin off company ( ifast diagnostics) which was incorporated last April.In November they raised nearly £2 million to further the project and aim to have platforms available for research this year and a full launch in 2024. There is a wealth of talented research at the uni that could be tapped into, but at the moment there is no clear picture what Novacyt are doing.

A little information on R+D expenditure over the last three years
2020- H1 £593,000. H2 £1,037,000 Total £1,630,000
2021- H1 £1,875,000. H2 £2,940,000 Total £4,815,000
2022- H1 £3,271,000. H2 ?? ??
I would expect the spend for H2 2022 to be higher than H1 as the development work on several tests wasn't announced until April . They also stated last April that some of the new tests that were at a more advanced stage should be ready for commercialization in 12 months. It would be good to know if they are still on track with this, because at the moment they have got silence with all aspects of the business down to a fine art.

KT, if Alltests Biotech are the actual manufacturer it would appear that Novacyt have partnered with a Chinese company for the LT reader.

Laughoutloud, the government website shows availability for commercial court cases of more than 14 day's from February 2024. We are due a general election in 2024 and looking back May is a favoured month . If a May election date was chosen would the government want an earlier court case while they are on the campaign trail?

Hi Kaeren/ Larry, I took a look at the accounts for the full year 2021 and H1 2022. From what I can see the money for the second and third payments of the LTIP has been held in foreign currencies under the section for financial income and expenses. In the full year accounts for 2021 a financial foreign exchange loss of just over £2million was showing for this money . Could this be one of the reasons why they initially withheld the 2021 payment . Moving on to the H1 accounts for 2022 there is a substantial foreign exchange gain showing for the 6 months and if you look under other liabilities it shows that the withheld payment for 2021 has now been paid. Comments at the end of the trade and liabilities section state -
Other liabilities have fallen as a result of payments being made in relation to the 2017/2020 LTIP scheme, leaving the final tranche which is forecast to be paid by the end of 2022.
Just to add to my comment last night I can't see that DA would have been happy agreeing to such large outflows of cash when so little money was coming in .

P101, you've already told this board you only read the first two lines of an rns ,so wouldn't know that the accounts stated that the final payment was to be made in 2022( November 1st being the yearly anniversary date as per the original agreement).

I don't know if anyone has already seen this notice that was published on Bidstats last week. A new four year framework, valued up to £20 billion is being set up to provide the NHS with a full range of testing services. This is made up of 10 different lots, one of which is for point of care testing and the the final two are for innovation . Novacyt now have a range of clinical tests, hopefully they will apply to be on the framework and compete for business.
