partners do manage to get the Falkland Isnands oil development back on track the sp here woild be more like 8p. A big IF at the moment of course. A small buy, hold and keep fingers crossed job I think!!

Not sure quite how the board could get The Indian Government to pay up by now? Can you advise how this might have been done?
Regarding the expected $1 billion compensation the board have kept us informed as far as I can see. They can't comment on every Indian news paper article or we would be knee deep in RNS's.

The sp actually dipped 0.3% today which is surprising considering Boris is saying the UK will almost certainly NOT lock down with this covid wave. Obviously all retail Co's will benefit.

compensation IMHO at the moment there is no way the market has priced in even half of this.
The market does not "count it's chickens before they hatch" so to speak.
Considering India's track record I would be astonished if the market has built in even 50% of the payment. More like 30% max I would have thought.
Many funds like pensions will have rules to say they simply are not allowed to invest until an RNS actually says the money is in the bank.
$1 billion is £742,585,000 at todays rates.
There are 498,188,093 shares in issue.
£742,585,000 / 498,188,093 = £1.49p, call it £1.50.
If we assume 50% is already built in the sp would go to (existing £1.87 plus 75p) = £2.62p.

I conclude if the money arrives the sp will spike to £2.50-£3.00.
This seems quite sensible to me. Do your own research of course.

Agree but where is the sp going assuming we get the $1 billion. No-one sems to want to comment.

The market cap at the moment is about £940m, which is about $1,299,023,040.
If we get another $1,000,000,000 that is $2,299,023,040.
That is about £1,699,016,915.
Divided by 498, 188, 093 shares in issue = £3.41.
However how much of that is built in to the sp already, as we need to take that off!
I keep coming to the conclusion that the sp should, assuming we gat the money, rocket past say £2.50.
Anyone else care to comment?

But probably is not good enough for me. I was up so I have cashed in.
In the........ fairly unlikely event Russia invades Ukraine one thing I am sure of. The sp here would go off a cliff. The price of oil AND GAS would also go through the roof. So I think if you want to invest in oil/gas (which seems a good idea all things considered) I think you would be far better off maikng sure the Company you choose has no, or minimal assets in Russia.
The awful thought occurs to me that Russia might invade to push the price of gas off the chart and holding the whole of Europe to ransom so to speak. Russia would just say it's market forces....... Also their oil would become instantly far more valuable. Food for thought. Let's hope Putin is not that old he has decided to make his mark in History.

worry me. Years ago when BP did the massive deal with Rosneft I thought it was rather stupid. I thought based on total greed being sucked in by Russia. BP. have massive investments in Russia and could end up regretting it big time if you ask me. I's say "AVOID" until this Ukraine business calms down, if it does!

Amazing how omicron has managed to get on board in the first place.
However we are getting more and more evidence Omicron is far milder than Delta........... and becoming the dominant strain meaning less people get Delta.
From what I have gleaned over the last few weeks my opinion is Omicron usually gives almost no symptoms. People who have had 2 jabs and booster jab have next to no chance of getting severely ill, unless they have some underlying nasty disease. People with 2 jabs have more risk but again are extremely unlikely to end up in hospital. Then one jab more risky, then no jab (fools?) may catch and end up in hospital, may die.
As far as I am aware 95% of passengers and crew have to be double jabbed at least, and show a negative test result before boarding. Thus it is extremely unlikely anyone on a cruise ship would get ill enough to go to hospital. In fact IMHO 95% of those who test positive would show no symptoms.
Conclusion is cruises, provided 95% double jabbed and all who board have tested negative will be allowed to carry on. Easily.

have taken yet another kicking over the holiday. Thousands of cancelled flights due to pilots/staff being ill with Omicron. The advantage cruise Companies have is the crew are vaccinated, can't get on board in the first place without a negative test and stay on board for months. Obviously airline cabin crew do not stay on board for any more than a day of so max.
I believe 95% of passengers & crew have to be double jabbed and produce a negative test before boarding. With Omicron looking to be far milder than Delta even if a child (the 5% non vaccinated is to cater for children that cannot currntly get vaccinated) comes aboard with Omicron the chances of any major outbreak on board or abyone getting seriously ill is minimal. Must be safer than going shopping I think, and by a long chalk. Seems some participants in the market have worked this out quick as the sp has rebounded from a low around 1200p to 1462p now.

I have been investing in the UK stock market for more than 15 years.
BUT only with more serious money the last say 3 years.
Certainly have learned a huge amount. I do not yet do this for a living but may give it a go.................. soon.
I sold out of CURY after buying at 76p in May 2020 and also Nov 2021 making 66%.
