So $1 bilion is about £728,435,00014 Jan 2022 10:44
Current market cap £976,070,000, and the sp is £1.96. £976,070,000 / £1.96 = 497,994,897 shares. £728,435,000 / 497,994,897 = £1.46. £1.46 plus £1.95 is £3.41p. Have I made an error here?
RE: Gas up 9%. Ukraine tension I presume14 Jan 2022 10:32
Of course our new assett in Egypt produces mostly gas as per the RNS about it several months ago. About time Modi got his cheque book out and did us the cheque for the $1 billion compensation the Indian Government said they would send us. I'm expecting sp spike to above £2.50 assuming it arrives. All IMHO.
I've pulled my oil money out of BP. and put it in SQZ and TLW. If Ukraine explodes into conflict BP shares will crater IMHO, along with Shell. Both have massive investments in Russia. Al IMHO.
7.9% down yesterday and 3.7% today14 Jan 2022 09:36
11.6% down in 1.25 days which is quite incredible. No obvious bad news in the trading update either. I fancy the £2.25 we are around now will stop the ridiculous drop. I might understand say 8%?.... tops?? All IMHO.
Carrington. Totally agree. Seems to me once the sp had lost a few % (no dividend?) a lot of people who were up a lot probably decided to cash in and that starts a landslide backwards for the day...... I hope. 7.9% drop seems extreme with no "bad" news in there I can see! All IMHO.
Repression. Good point. If the RNS had any bad news heaven knows what the drop wouild have been............ 15%? The sp has gone up a lot of late so lots of profits taken today. Fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow! All IMHO.
From RNS:- Food. As a result, M&S was the fastest growing major store-based Food retailer in the period. The business generated its highest ever Christmas sales with December growth in line with the performance for the quarter. In addition, although not included in these numbers, M&S products performed strongly on Ocado.com, representing c.30% of baskets in December. Clothing & Home. sales increased 3.2%. Full price sales grew by 45% as we maintained our trusted value trading stance, reducing the amount of product sold on promotion by 66% and stock into sale by 21% compared to 2019/20. Online sales continued to be strong, with growth of 50.8% supported by substantial expansion of in-store fulfilment. Store sales were down 10.8% on 2019/20 with retail parks up, continuing to outperform stores in city centres. All looks pretty good. Price drop due to no dividend re-introduction I presume. Solid future now as opposed to before when the whole Co's future looked in danger.
RE: I would not be surprised if M&S get a takeover bid >13 Jan 2022 11:58
I now see you have completely guessed some £7B goodwill assuming this is what the furure holds. Fairly crazy IMHO. How in the World can you put a figure on that? Use a dart board? LOL!! Never mind. Honestly I see M&S getting a bid in due course. All IMHO.

I would not be surprised if M&S get a takeover bid >13 Jan 2022 11:36
The Company is in prime position for the recovery and the USA investment Co's like supermarkets that can ride out things like covid. I've been thinking this for a while. Morrisons has gone, Sainsbury and Tescos have been mentioned along with M&S. as far as who might be next. I should imagine a takeover sp would be more like £3.50 a share for M&S. Tescos is almost too big, and Sainsbury have a Billionaire who owns I think about 12%. M&S look to me like they will be seriously looked at. Prety obvious. All IMHO.
RE: Frankly I'm amazed the sp has not cruised12 Jan 2022 14:15
PGee. Any reason why the Indian Governmnet could not buy CNE? At least they would have something for paying out the compensation money. Maybe I'm mad but is seems to make sense to me. If they pay the $1 billion compensation they get nothing in return. Zilch. If they buy the Company for say the $1 billion plus what.... £750m? they get the Compoany, it's assets and effectively their $1 billion back?? Is that right?? Woud be more like £3.25 a share I think. All IMHO. All IMHO.
