Brokers can and do make various assumptions but until we know the cost of the development, the company’s funding plans- debt/equity/carry, production rate and start-up date, we are in hope mode.

The fundamentals are good; the oil is there and the NEO deal validates this.

Another analogy might be an oil company which has just made a 100MMBBLs oil discovery in a JV with a significant oil company. What would the share price do in this scenario?
But JOG’s current situation is far better than a discovery, as it is part-funded to a relatively near-term production start-up date.

What this stock needs is a clear out of the short-term whingers with a change from retail to institutional (fund manager) investors.
Now that 100MMBBLs have been ‘validated’ ( de-risked) by the NEO deal it is time for this transfer of investor base to take place. The non-deal roadshow, as suggested by Penguin on Tuesday, if taking place, should assist with this.

I imagine serious investors (fund managers etc.) need a few more details in order to be able to determine the value of the company.
Should we be valuing: a. 50% of X , or b. 25% of Y? Is a worth more or less than b? Or what will the final percentage be?
What the as yet un-completed farmout deal tells us is that another company has confidence in at least 100MMBBLs of oil. This alone should be worth a lot.

I personally think a placing (equity raise) is unlikely in the near-term; at least until after the second farm out. Potential investors would require to know the use of funds. Only after the second farmout will they know how much funding they require.
I hope that when fund managers return from their Easter holidays we should see this stock begin to re-rate.

I recommend to re-read the RNS before idly speculating on development costs.
There could be useful information therein.
