RE: MT Filtered23 Dec 2024 16:36
My political forecast is that Starmer will need some slightly better news soon in the New Year. He’s not going to fix the NHS or build all of the promised houses by Q1 and growth will remain elusive because of Reeves’ (and his) wealth-destroying taxes and policies.
So… from where might he manufacture a bit of merriment? The so-called Energy Secretary ( I think I’ve got that right) Miliband is universally hated and we have remarks from someone called Wes Streeting, who is apparently trying to fix the NHS, make disparaging remarks about his bacon sandwich gurning colleague. This was clearly scripted from the top ( if that’s not an oxymoron (probably just a regular moron with nothing oxy about it)).
My prediction, based also on a bit of Westminster gossip, is that Miliband will be ‘sacrificed’ and Net Zero targets will be ‘re-fashioned’ in Starmer-Reeves speak, to accommodate North Sea projects which conform to certain ‘charmed’ conditions. Now, it just so happens that Buchan, is thought to exude considerable ‘charm’. All sorts of ‘sustainability’ criteria are fulfilled through it being an old field being brought back into operation using a recycled FPSO and being electrified (as is very fashionable in Norway where his Starmership recently had a few glasses of Aquavit with their PM). I’m told the unions are also voiciferoulsy pushing Buchan, in particular. I also understand, from discrete sources that a couple of left-leaning think-tanks ( are they still called that?) that research papers are being published to promote the socio-economics of , basically, producing ‘home-grown’ oil. When this is published , even Guardianistas will be pleading with HMG to allow the development of ‘charmed’ energy projects.
Bottom line: all good news for Buchan and especially dear old JOG. Bothers , sisters and ye of little or gender or mixed or uncertain, HANG IN THERE, just a little more patience and we shall soon reap the rewards of our currently under-performing investment.
