JTT thanks for reply. I get it that you are considering wider issues but before trashing a fellow human give her a chance to deliver without attacking her on past lifestyle. Judge her on what decisions she makes about the country in her varoius roles and RR. rather than if she has/had smoked a cigar or anything else about her personally habits that some may dislike.

Does anyone have the up to date news on this tax since it does cut into the profit margins of all airlines using Hungary?
From Reuters June 20 "The 30 billion forint ($78.95 million) per year tax, levied from July as part of nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s moves to rein in the budget deficit, has drawn criticism from Ryanair and rival Wizz Air."
Ryanair seems to be stepping back from Hungary as a viable business destination because of the fine imposed on them and their present flights appear to be one way to Hungary. This avoids the airline company picking up the tab for Windfall Tax because the tax is only on flights leaving Hungary. This may provide extra customers for the likes of WIZZ air.

In reply to issue of press and TV control I believe in free speech. The Russians have closed down any TV, press or private individuals expressing and alternative view to that of the state. They have passed laws to cancel out voices they don't like to hear. The only narrative from Russia has to mirror that expressed by Putin, or they are fined, in prison or disposed of in Russia or abroad, Salisbury even. So USA and UK have responded in similar ways, because we are in a Cold War with Russia. But to my knowledge US or UK have not fined anyone for expressing their point of view on Ukraine or WIZZ.

WIZZ air is a Hungarian company and has Pro Russian leader, and any developments concerning new flights to Moscow will be keenly watched by all NATO countries and especially Ukraine with air of caution beware.

Thank you Istabrraq for your post and your keen attention to detail. So one short went up and another went down by the same amount. Good observation. My view remains that shorts will probably increase on this share. Free travel for Ukrainians to leave their homeland since their homes have been blown up and they are refugees is not such a great free ticket. Unlimited, without time restictions, free ticket travel for Ukrainian soldiers on WIZZ aeroplanes returning to Ukraine in order to fight the Russians, would be supportive to Ukraine. Would WIZZ do this to support Ukraine?

The sentence that signals for me that Hungary is pro- Russian and anti Ukrainian is, "While Mr Orban has allowed NATO to station troops in the west of Hungary, he has forbidden any military consignments from crossing the country’s eastern border into Ukraine."
If the Russian tanks rolled into Hungary with the present Prime Minister in power they maybe welcomed as liberators to rekindle the Soviet Union. The article is strongly suggesting that Hungary is very much an established Russian satellite with Orban very cosy with Putin. This mirrors the approach taken by WIZZ with Hungarian Pro Russian CEO wanting to support resuming business as usual flights to the capital city of Russia.
