Antibody tests are usually carried out after vaccination to be sure that the vaccine has worked/antbody levels are high enough.
The PCR test will always be used as a diagnostic/tracing tool as well. All three tools essentially go hand-in-hand.
smokieUK - you're right, many investors might not see the future of Novacyt as rosily as others but to me that highlights a blatant disregard for the current situation. I don't know if people are blind to the fact, or choose to ignore it, that this virus isn't going anywhere soon. To some it might seem that way given the gradual relaxation of lockdowns etc. but at the very least we'll require testing on a yearly basis for the foreseeable future. Given the Novacyt kit specificity to this viral strain and the likelihood that it will work with mutated viruses, plus the strong market position, I see that as a very rosy future indeed.
Thanks for the update
Been in here for a couple of months now (currently my largest holding). Quite happy to sit and wait as everything looks like it could shape up very nicely indeed.
Also, thanks to those posting regular updates with some very useful information!

The MMs are so sly as usual; showing us the big sells from over an hour ago to try and scare people.
Don't be deceived!

If the virus " burns itself out" I believe we'll have discovered a whole new branch of virology.
Go read a book, or if that's "TLDR", watch a video on something related to biology. Preferably before your next de-ramping, scientifically implausable post.
Been holding a few shares here since 2018 now and haven't really been keeping up to date...From my very superficial reading, the immediate future looks bright. Worth topping up a bit?
They began by building strong collaborations for more efficient production. Now that the foundations are there we'll likely begin to see the fruits of production with more contracts as demand grows for this specific product around the world!
Remember, we have a highly adept team working at Novacyt!

I wonder why anyone invests in shares other than to make a bit of money? So what if they come from NCYT or if their great Grandmother recommended it to them on a whim. It makes sod all difference.
Or are people purely being philanthropic and choosing to support a company that may provide some good in the world?
Even after the initial partnership news with NCYT, YGEN didn't really budge much despite GDR going off on a 300% rocket.
I put a lot of cards on YGEN because I saw potential, still do. It's just annoying that it's been kept within a 3-4p range for a few weeks now. And then the news yesterday which should have seen us up to at least 30p...
could be due to NCYT getting back after the weekend to find GDR in bed with Cytiva? Not to worry though as NCYT has plenty of friends to fall back on, and may even forgive GDR soon!
Joking aside, can't wait for the RNS due here- hope it contains some nice numbers :-)

Hoping for some news soon as this share has been making me feel on edge for a few weeks now!
Strong potential, just need an update to get the ball rolling. In a way I'm glad it's not been yoyo-ing without any news, like some others these days.
Hi Van,
Well usually I'm not as optimistic as I perhaps should be. I often think too much and end up playing it safe. That's come back to bite me a couple of times with NCYT. However, with each passing week my confidence in NCYT grows - someone is certainly doing a wonderful job at the helm!
I had a good laugh a couple of days ago when someone forwarded me an article from ii which stated that buying into NCYT right now is extremely risky and therefore strongly advised against.
The author said that the share price is highly unlikely to increase past 47p. Strange I thought, that must be a typo as the share price at my time of reading was 470p. Low and behold I checked the date of publication and it was from the beginning of February...
So really, who can predict where it goes from here? I'm hoping to look back and laugh again in May when the share price is 4700p...
The Qiagen RNeasy kit they mention in the paper has been around for years - they've just shown that it can used in this scenario as well. It simply isolates the target RNA from all the other rubbish. They then went on to order their own primers.
Let's hope so. It's long overdue.

What are the main reasons for them keeping it low?
Just keep the following points in mind:
1. Normal YGEN production is strong
2. Additional production for NCYT/PD test kit components
3. Eventially production of all components
4. Testing to be conducted in house for the NHS
Updates for any of these points will be great!
