"1. Machine. So, company is currently heavily dependent upon a machine that hasn't actually left the manufacturer?
2. Only 1 machine? What happens if it proves unreliable?
3. So company is currently heavily dependent on a mask that hasn't been certified? What happens if it isn't certified?
4. Why has it taken so long to get finance sorted?
5. What caused the board upheavals?"
You could ask very similar questions of any other company, replacing the words "machine" and "mask" with the hinge points of those other companies. That specific branch of P2F is indeed dependent on the machine and mask just as Amazon is dependent on cardboard boxes or the oil companies dependent on drill bits... It's a pretty pointless question though. Or is it actually designed to feign uncertainty in order to trip up others? I don't know.
However, as I hinted at, this is a branch of P2F. They have other projects (hopefully accelerated with recent funding) that are equally as promising. RMS also has Gyrometrics and Cloudveil, but you know that already from your own research. Additionally, that branch of P2F which I alluded to has a collaboration with Volz and now Alex as director, both of which will open a treasure trove of possibilities.
Some people seem to believe that an email containing a few words of support is a binding legal document that will upend the company. Come off it. Many of us have been concerned for quite some time and the news that GC has similar views and is willing to voice them is very encouraging indeed. Therefore, letting him know he has a strong backing from PIs is imperative.

Now would be the perfect time to contact local representatives and healthcare officials to remind them of these masks.
You just have to do some dummy buys and watch all the trades going through. There must have been at least 20x 500,000 buys between 10:00 and 10:10. Huge positions being taken.
Completely agree, Manifesto! At least a few of us see the positives.
There is a reason for everything - yes it can be dirty at times but with RMS it's pretty clear to see. I would not be surprised now at all if the good news starts to come in. This is the largest investment I've made in my short 10 years of trading
(and also my greatest loss but I remain very much hopeful that it will come good very soon).
And a lot of buys probably being printed as sells. I was just quoted 1.34 buy.
Loads of 100,000 chunks going through.
larry, this article was posted before. It's very shoddy and much akin to the mail online in the UK. Also thought it somewhat suspicious when it first arose, considering it was written the very same day of our RNS release (16th Nov).
I currently work on a German hospital campus and haven't heard a thing about the Rgenau masks.
Anyway, even if they are genuine there is a market for masks from multiple companies, no big deal.
Glad some people read the RNS carefully! Also happy that we seem to be getting more snippets of news and being kept in the loop.
4ply with an anti-viral layer is still far better than every other mask currently available. 5ply will be modified if necessary (note the word 'preliminary'), it's not as if they'll now drop the 5ply idea altogether.
It also always amazes me that so many good samaritans show up to play financial advisor and to warn us of impending doom. Thanks for the advice, but I wouldn't have invested tens of thousands into this only to be spooked by some folk on a bulletin board who clearly want to short.
It's nice to be kept in the loop like this. Great news!
Alex has a BSc in Maths as well, so will be able to count up all those masks!
Joking aside - what a fantastic find, Lotto. Many thanks!
The vaccines are safe. No corners were cut, it was able to be expedited due to the pandemic, loads of funding, international collaboration, media coverage and thousands of volunteers, sharing lots of data etc. It's testament to what science can achieve when given the right resources. It's safe but there are many other drawbacks - please see my previous posts on vaccines (should be from about 1 week ago).
It does not attenuate the need for masks. The vaccines and masks should be used as part of a combinatorial approach to halting the pandemic. these masks are obviously going to be in huge demand, vaccine or no vaccine.
L2 is solid!
sp stuck at 1.71p despite being 1.85p, RNS showing 2 rather than 1... come on LSE!
I'm sorry but that's a ridiculous argument. If you were to apply the same reasoning to the vaccine (that this is old/already known science therefore everything new is irrelevant) then we would have no more vaccines. What about fusion reactions for unlimited energy? That scientific theory was raised many decades ago and so far hasn't been successful practically - when it arrives in 5 years should we put that on the shelf as well?
Same applies to the masks we have hear. 10 years ago it was known that some form of copper could be applied to the material to kill viruses. Now today it has been implemented when the need arose and when there was enough money behind it. And of course it could be patented if it's sufficiently different to what has been done before for other products.
It's only after I've typed out a few sentences that I question why I even bother spending my time replying to these kind of posts. I'll add it to the pile of post-it notes as a reminder for next time.
Mullet, this is a publication demonstrating the ability of copper oxide to kill viruses on masks. Please direct me to the actual products that resulted from this study 10 years ago? (Spoilers: there are none). It's often the case in science that the theory is around for many years before products stemming from that theory become widely available.
You think they ordered the machine and forgot about it for 2 months?
Don't be so cynical. Obviously they thought they'd have it sooner and had a delay... He said he was hoping to be able to give NHS staff a box. He'll be equally as disappointed as we are but there's nothing we can do.
Did anyone ever discuss the possibility of selling the virucidal layer on its own? Either as a roll to those already producing masks or to end of chain consumers who may have their own reusable fabric masks (with pouch for inserts). Agree with Tex that this needs licensed first and foremost, maybe selling the virucidal layer could come a close second and then have full mask production in Nottingham/Volz? Just some thoughts. Much of this week's discussion has been hinged on one machine.
The vaccines have indeed been expedited but no corners have been cut. The trials are still highly stringent, it's just that things like volunteer recruitment has taken weeks instead of years due in part to the extensive media coverage etc. Increased funding has helped as well. More collaborations between research groups around the world with data being shared faster. I'm in the medical research field myself so can say the vaccines are most likely safe and just go to show what science can achieve when given the correct resources. It truly is amazing, even the two mRNA vaccines are complete breakthroughs with regards to the basic science, however, I won't get carried away!
But... and these are big buts... as I've stated before, the vaccines should have little bearing on the use of masks.
1. We don't know how long immunity will last - either due to long term effectiveness of the vaccine or mutation of the virus or both. We do know that that virus is mutating. It might become a seasonal thing like the flu, albeit with a decline in mortality (the virus will evolve to be less deadly, it wants to keep you alive!). This means vaccines may have to be updated yearly.
2. Only a fraction of the world's population will get one of these vaccines by the end of next year. The rest will have to continue taking other measures.
3. Unfortunately, these kinds of pandemics will become relatively more frequent (over the next couple of decades that is). Governments will likely want to stock up on vaccine alternatives so as not to be caught off guard as they were in March. People's behaviour will also change accordingly and be hopefully become more conscious of the situation.
4. Distribution and roll out of the vaccines isn't going to happen overnight. We've already witnessed multiple blunders around track and trace and whatnot.
5. There are still some final tests to be carried out, scrutiny over the results and mass production.
My point is that there are still many elements to the vaccines that have to be addressed. Safety probably isn't one of those but I understand people are still concerned. The best way to deal with this pandemic and to be prepared for future (even for reducing the flu burden) is a combinatorial approach. Belts and braces. Vaccines and masks. Don't shoot down the vaccines to promote the masks, there is plenty of room for both.
Masks should be used en masse for the foreseeable future. We have the best anti-viral mask being produced right now and it could seriously be one of the pillars in the fight against the virus. I completely endorse the vaccines but realise they are not the be all and end all. That's why I'm invested here and confident that it will do well.
Don't take my word for any of this though, I only add some perspective. DYOR and have your own reasons for being here! Anyway, off to bed! Let's see what tomorrow brings.
