Absolutely agree, every transaction is both a buy and a sell; it has to be that way or it would not be a transaction at all. However what we need to know for any particular transaction is how it could be described from a punters' (you and me) perspective. I assume that LSE and others understand this and label a transaction accordingly.

Quite right Jatw which is why I have not used them for years, except for the car. So what happens if I have a burglary? No worries most "day traders" make piddling little amounts of money and think it's something wonderful. My current best investment has made 70 % in the last nine months which kind of figure yer average day trader only ever sees a fraction of. As Warren says most day traders are at the mercy of their own emotions.

Yeah well prolem with Motley is so many people think they are gospel that a ot of their stuff becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy but It's the medium term that really matters to any serious investor as Warren would tell you. So where will the LLOY SP be in three years time, a lot higher than at present I fancy.

Yes, SP is back to where I bought them for back before Christmas. You would have to be mentally incompetent not to hold these for at least a year.

The truth is that nothing has really changed much in LGEN's business and they will paying another dividend in the not too decent future which will vastly exceed any interest rate which you might get from the banks and the rate of inflation.

What makes anyone think that brokers are smarter than you. Well they ain't they do not have special powers or access to info which John Smith doesn't have, they are just men like you and I. Same applies to so called financial advisers who have just read a couple of books about how to understand the money business which you can do just as easily. There are a few good FA's but not many in my experience who are worth paying in more than shirt buttons. Once again we are witnessing the recovery of SP's which has followed the mass panic of every crisis I have seen in the past 50 years. Did you sell on the way down? More fool you.

falkland, you must be joking. No way is this quality share going to "get weaker" now. Does anyone really think that the board paid a dividend without being fully aware of the company's likely financial situation in the face of covid.

The reason why the SP of this stock has "struggled" as lolmcshizz puts it is that fear causes irrational behaviour. Any psychologist will tell you that but a lot of investors have been suffering from fear for some unknown reason and converting shares into cash. Doing so makes not the slightest difference to their lives but they still do irrational things as I have seen many times in my now quite long life. "But we could die!" - incorrect, we all die, it is inevitable so why fear death.

Prolly near enough right. Ask yourself which businesses recover most quickly after a crash? IMO it is those which provide essential services which have a strong balance sheet. Does LLOY fit that scenario? - Probably.

I watched so called fund managers fail repeatedly a few years ago when I was a trustee of a large pension fund and finally concluded that to stay relatively safe with reasonable growth prospects, it was probably best to use trackers. We did exactly that for over twenty years and saved a small fortune in fund management fees. These days for my modest personal fund I tend to select single shares which regularly yield better than the banks or building societies are prepared to give such as this one. Yes it's down at the moment but in every crash I have seen over the last 50 years, eventually there was a recovery. Most people do not die so a recovery will happen again.

Not 250 but over 300 is what I would expect from a share of this quality which is about to pay a decent divi in defiance of the old women who run PRA.

Assuming that's true and we all know that you can't trust journalists these days, that takes the number from 0.06% to 0.07%. Hardly "dramatic" unless one suffers from an anxiety neurosis.

Yes and the PRA don't really know what they are doing because the current situation of interference in normal economic activity by a clueless government is unprecedented. The supposed death of just 0.06 % of the population is supposed to justify it all and that is not much more than the normal death rate of around 11,000 per week, madness.

According to my (very) rough calculatons, the cost savings arising from a considerable fall in claims in the first half could easily be half a billon which would considerably outweigh in other increased costs arising from covid 19 problems. All being well we could see a really fat special div in the autumn - pure guesswork of course.
